Looks promising (to me). So, down 5% at the open!? LOL

No further contributions to the pension scheme stands out to me. "The Group's pension deficit contributions for the year to 31 December 2023 were £40 million, and for the year to 31 December 2022 were £137 million". Must be a strong positive to FCF going forward.

Recovering advertsing. Cost savings. Progress with digital. ITV Studios blip but underlying growth still there.

Q1 2024 Highlights

● ITV continues to make good progress and remains on track to deliver its 2026 KPI targets

● Total ITV Studios Q1 revenue was down 16%, reflecting the phasing of deliveries and the expected impact of the US writers' and actors' strike

● Total ITV Studios revenue for FY24 is expected to be broadly flat with a strong pipeline of programmes heavily weighted to H2

● ITVX continued to perform strongly with 16% growth in streaming hours and 14% growth in digital advertising revenues in Q1

● Total advertising revenue up 3% in Q1, with strong momentum into Q2, expected to be up around 12%; H1 expected to be up around 8%

● ITV Pension scheme in surplus following latest triennial valuation; removes a significant historic drag on free cash

The late surge is a bit suspicious, its as if someone knows that the update will be good.
Or is it due to Disney and Warner Bros getting closer together.
Cheers

It’s hardly down to buybacks Stanley when they’ve bought less than 2000 in the last 2 trading days. Even peasants like yourself buy more than that.

A break above the 75p area brings the 80's into play...

and thinking about it...Why not the 80's + ?

ITV were expecting TAR growth of 3%(YOY) in Q1 and then they have the Euro's to look forward to in July as well.

I expect a bullish TU tomorrow on an improving outlook.

As inflation falls, then eventually interest rates fall a few notches the UK economy will start to hopefully recover. ITV will benefit obviously.

ITV is a fantastic recovery play (With the added bonus of a potential takeover target as well)

Has anybody any idea why the buy backs have recently stopped ?

tlobs, fair enough, I have that issue in VOD. Unfortunately I have a far higher average than the current share price over there, and it's near a low not seen since the 90s! By comparison ITV is holding up well :0)

I was just pointing out that whilst recent investors have done OK, long term investors have been let down by the Board of Directors.

They have a history of managing to present positive upbeat news in a negative manner!

"The term grasping at straws springs to mind."

I really don't need to. My average is 59.86p after costs, and before the dividend lands (when it will be 56.56p), a 29% gain.

I only bought ITV earlier this year. I'm very happy with the share price performance.

Davius....

"ITV is pretty much at a 12 month high." The term grasping at straws springs to mind.

Frenchfry...

There can't be many long term holders willing to sell at these current prices.

As for the manipulation, I can only hope that there is a possible deal being negotiated. The basis of that negotiation could well be based on a multiple of that nominal price and I'm guessing that is 70-75p. Whether the target price to get the deal done is 1.5, 2, 2.5 or 3 times that price only time will tell.

The BOD will want to see it as a victory. From a 100p to 150p is hardly going to be seen as inspirational after all the years of decline.

The free float on this share is very low. And the volumes reflect that. A change of sentiment triggered by a bullish trading update (driven by evidence of a pick up in advertising) and the BOE lowering or signalling an impending base rate cut could see this rerate upwards sharply. In the meantime, the buyback soaks up the minor selling order flow (there is still an absence of buying order flow though).

Can’t help but feel that there is some pent-up demand building here with the share price - each time it rises intra-day it gets pulled back briefly before bouncing upwards again. Sooner or later feel the brakes will be released for a decent leg-up.

Some people are never satisfied, add on the 5p dividend and ITV is pretty much at a 12 month high.

ITV Studios is churning out a vast array of high quality dramas (ok, with the odd dud admittedly), the latest announcement is a new version of the Forsythe Saga, perhaps on the back of the success of Bridgerton.

Plus the 6.9% yield.

And the continuing buyback.

There are worse performers in my portfolio.

A load of questions would make a good blurb on the back of a finance thriller.. But you would also need a dead body, or missing billions or something...

Manipulation? Really? What's the evidence? By who? For what reason? And what is the mechanism? Are there any answers to these questions? I'm guesssing not.
