jonnybig, I'm sure in time they will start the process of mopping up all the cheap shares before buying more at 80p, some at 90p and then a pound a share ;-)

Jacko07 not really would be my answer. Yes the options market is large and liquid , mostly in the US. But the question I have is it a liquid in a UK mid cap , ie ITV? I think the answer is non existent, but am happy to be corrected. Also , a blanket statement that all mutual funds and investment funds can and do what you suggest is also way off the mark. The vast majority of pension , mutual and investment funds have zero mandate to dabble in derivatives , can’t therefore and won’t.
The timing of the director buying is excellent news. Roll on a buyback RNS (pretty please).

Two thirds of voters believe that foreign governments should not be able to own UK media organisations, an opinion poll has found.

The survey of 5,299 adults by Lord Ashcroft, the former Tory donor-turned-pollster, posed the question as the United Arab Emirates-backed takeover of The Telegraph hangs in the balance.

Respondents were told about the Telegraph bid and asked “whether foreign governments should be involved in the ownership of UK media outlets”.

Some 66 per cent of those polled agreed that “foreign governments should not be allowed to own UK media outlets, directly or indirectly”.

Opposition highest among Tory voters
In contrast, 14 per cent of respondents said that it should be allowed as long as the owners do not influence what the outlets publish or broadcast, while 5 per cent said there was “no problem” with the arrangement. The rest selected the “don’t know” option.

If ITV floated ITVx on the stock market? Is that possible?
Would it be a good thing to do?

Below is the director who bought shares today per RNS.
Interestingly she previously managed the launch of iPlayer for the BBC.

Huckers matthewr, I didn't imply that pension funds do derivatives, I don't know! Hedge funds and Mutuals and Investment funds do. No, it isn't easy to get an account with one of the leading options firms, it's tricky because of the risks.

I have an account and I can tell you first hand, the forms and checks they make are arduous. If you are writing calls, they hold your stock in a nominee account.

Hope that helps.

People out there are being employed to buy around 350million shares over the next seventeen months and you say it's all over. What a muppet.

Tslob..what are you a five year old using kintergarden names.

ffs put a sock in it, every time you post some more drivel another one of your brain cells dies, try not to murder the few you have left!

Jacko07 I’m no derivative expert so I found your option message interesting. However what needs clarifying from your comments is you seem to imply that all pension funds are doing this. That’s incorrect. The vast majority of pension funds are long only and not allowed to dabble in the derivative world. Second point I would make (& I’m happy to be corrected), is you imply that such strategies are easy to put on. I would seriously question that as the liquidity in the underlying (ex the last week) has been so poor , I would have thought there is diddly squat liquidity in ITV options. Anyone know?

Huckers you 100% cannot execute a buyback via options.
