12/3/2024 16:55 | Huckers..for every buyer there is a seller, large holders in ITV like those huge funds will sell call and put options to obtain an income from their holdings. The derivatives market is huge and very profitable. If a trader is holding say 100,000 shares in ITV that they bought for that 60p a few weeks back and they want to draw in some income. At today's 70p and they think that is a peak fr a few months, they can sell 100 june 70p call contracts at say 3p and they will receive 100k x 3p or £3k as a premium (+ dealing)...if the share falls or stays static they make £3k profit, if the share rises to 75p, they can either buy the option back and close it or let the call option holder exercise the 100k shares for 70p. If they are called on expiry or before they will have made £10k profit on the shares plus £3k profit on the option. If the share price is 71p in June, the 100k contract will be worth £1k and it can be closed for £1k giving a £2k profit. If the share price is underwater or par on expiry the whole £3k is profit to the shareholder. There are many different examples of how options can be traded, but it isn't something for the novice or faint hearted. But if you are a large holder of any stock listed on ICE, you can make money by selling calls against that stock which is how many funds return an income. If a share goes ex div in an option period, the shareholder is entitled to the div, but there is a market adjustment to allow the option holder to benefit. Put options work in the oppsite way, profits are made when the share price falls. Go on to Investopedia and read their bumpf on it, it explains many things..... | ![]() jacko07
12/3/2024 16:00 | jacko07 (or anyone). Would you mind elaborating on the option trades for me, please (it's not something I am very familiar with)? Are you saying ITV (or MS on their behalf) has already been active in the options market in some form? Irrespective of that, the buying order flow from the buybacks as they happen must have a positive effect on the SP, no? | ![]() huckers
12/3/2024 15:59 | interesting, everyone seems to be moaning about buy back rather than buying shares...talk about behind the curve | ![]() stansmith1

The news of ITVx being successful and advertising picking up will see the share price benefit." LMAO People out there are being employed to buy around 350million shares over the next seventeen months and you say it's all over. What a muppet. Todays volume is less than two million so far. | ![]() tlobs2
12/3/2024 15:16 | They have promised to buy back but not have to? I will buy when they start buy back as promised otherwise stay short ... ITV launches promised buyback but revenue and profit declineSource: Alliance NewsC on Thursday said earnings decreased in its latest year, and warned of external factors set to drive down its 2024 results. | blackhorse23

12/3/2024 13:46 | From RNS 7th March - ITV PLC ITV plc Share Purchase Programme Purchases of Shares pursuant to the Programme will take place during a period starting on 7 March 2024 and ending no later than 29 August 2025 (the "Engagement Period"). Hopefully clarifies it is the Engagement Period they are referring to rather than purchase dates | ![]() stever705
12/3/2024 13:38 | My argument is they have misled the investors. clear mention in last RNS buy back should start from on 7th but so far no buy back, ( today 12th ) unless buy back has been suspended. Need clarification from boards | blackhorse23
12/3/2024 13:30 | Triky, the stockmarket is all about next week, next month, the buyback has been announced, you have had the fruits already. The buyback is old news, you have had the rise, it's baked in. The news of ITVx being successful and advertising picking up will see the share price benefit. We need more updates from the ITV board, their lack of communication is a blight on the share price. | ![]() jacko07
12/3/2024 12:34 | Tlobs2 - “Blackdonkey, you have shown your complete ignorance and lost all credibility with those two posts. I think you need to get your care worker to check your posts before you submit them.” If you think that donkey had any credibility ever you must have missed his incessant foolery these past years. Cautious, I’m not sure you can compare LLOY to ITV. ITV buy back is bigger compared to market cap and the liquidity and holdings are completely different. I think the buy backs will positively and significantly affect the share price | trikytree
12/3/2024 12:27 | It helps the Dame and her BoD. Buybacks are more lucrative for corporate executives than dividends. Managers who are compensated via stock options rather than company stock don't receive dividends, but they can benefit from a buyback that pushes up the near-term or long-term stock price. | ![]() jacko07
12/3/2024 12:24 | Corby is correct, buybacks do not make the share price soar, take Lloyds £1.75 billion buyback, it started in late 2022 and the share price did not perform, in fact it went down from 45p to 40p so it isn't gonna put a rocket under ITV. The announcement, the success of ITVx a low Mkt cap and a return of advertising is what's moving ITV. It's undervalued. | ![]() cautios7
12/3/2024 11:53 | This one made me chuckle ... corby312 Mar '24 - 11:31 - 6648 of 6652 A buyback hasn't started yet and won't send the share price zooming up even if they can fulfill their orders. So we have a fully funded buyer needing to do a job buying for its client and it's claimed that it "won't send the share price zooming" On trades of just a few million last week the price rose from low 60's to low 70's | ![]() tlobs2
