10/11/2017 11:45 | “Rothschild principle - let someone else take the last bit of profit as that is the riskiest of all the profit!” That’s a very short term, temporary, viewpoint. The ‘last bit of profit’ in IQE is probably (many) years away. | aimingupward2
10/11/2017 11:35 | The nice thing about IQE is the markets it serves. Data traffic and fibre optics are going crazy. Mobile/5G is booming. cREO will allow cheaper better LED lights with better power efficiency. Lighting/power switching will be cheaper and more efficient - and if they can get the volumes up governments may even start regulating the use of efficient devices to reduce carbon footprint. Nice to see a UK company doing so well in these markets. | luxaeterna1

10/11/2017 11:24 | Not sure what all the fuss is about today - the share price is basically exactly where it was 3 hours ago ! Nothing to see here. | hammerd2
10/11/2017 11:22 | This stock is good for the long term, no doubts, but it does like to yoyo. I'll be back for more when the yo is low. | fullbright
10/11/2017 11:11 | It is essential that investors have a basic steer of company law and the constitution of a listed organisation before making any decisions and assertions. | steptoes yard
10/11/2017 11:11 | Perhaps those shorters saw the AIM market, realised they'ed need serious cash to expand and assumed IQE would go to the bucket shops for £100m? At the minute, it seems to have backfired and a huge expansion is on the cards. I cannot say for definite where this is going, but if IQE have dominated and patent protected the VCSEL/cREO compound semi markets they will have 10-15 years of growth. | luxaeterna1
10/11/2017 11:08 | Blimey - a +17% reaction to the curates egg of a 10% dilution + a 'potential' exceed - I certainly couldn't call it - well done longs | luckymouse
10/11/2017 10:51 | No grity, it just means that cannot just issue new shares without permission from the shareholders. Pretty much every company therefore has a standard motion granting the board authority to issue up to a given amount of shares (Someone mentioned that for the last IQE AGM it was 10% - quite a usual number I think - so can issue another 0.1% if they like ;-) | kazoom
10/11/2017 10:33 | The issue of the Placing Shares is pursuant to the authorities granted at the Company`s Annual General Meeting held on 13 June 2017. Does that mean some agm attendees knew About the placing | grity
10/11/2017 10:32 | The company has basically said that it is likely that 2017 expectations will be exceeded and that massive expansion means that the figures from 2018-19 will be significantly increased. Who in their right mind shorts a company that has spelled that out? I know there are no shortage of retail punters who will buy failing business that are falling in price, but I don't think there are many professionals who will run shorts against fast growing companies who are exceeding expectations and whose PE is well below the sector norm. I see the share price at £2.50/3 by end of year and £6/8 by end 2018. | mad foetus
10/11/2017 10:28 | To be honest it was obvious that the company needed funds to expand production...The recent consolidation will have played into their hands allowing institutions to get onboard at a value price...This has been well handled and the more sellers down here the better as it will allow the shareholder base to mature.. | sailastra
10/11/2017 10:25 | “Shorters running for the hills.” Well, just possibly. But it’s just as likely that new short positions will be opened, particularly if U.S. buying this afternoon pushes the share price up much further. I really don’t think we’re going to see any significant reduction in the net short position for a very long time. I do see shorters as pests, but they are, regrettably, a part of the investing scene. | aimingupward2
10/11/2017 10:14 | Working at Marshall Wace and Ennismore can't be a barrel of laughs. There again all depends on who took the decisions. I expcect share price consolidation post the placing as is the norm. | meijiman
10/11/2017 10:10 | its less risk buying now for the long term than at anytime in the last 12 months, and the price is still good - double your money over 12 months imo. | nimbo1
10/11/2017 10:07 | Shorters running for the hills. | momentum1
10/11/2017 10:05 | Why sell now...this is confirmation that the future is bright...The fact that they had no trouble at 140 must tell even the most sceptical that IQE are not playing games they are in a sweet spot and heading for big things....Let the sun shine and watch these green shoots grow | sailastra
10/11/2017 09:45 | Mirabeau I took a small profit on ASOS at 11p....look what happened to that one!! I’m holding tight here thanks to Sweenoid 😄. Fantastic opportunity! | moormoney
10/11/2017 09:43 | I don't subscribe to the myth that shorters have any more sway over strong companies than any other real factors but I do like to keep a track on the major players in companies in which I hold shedloads of shares. It's a minor hobby taking up about a minute a day. If none of them got wind of the placing and closed any of their positions yesterday then they are collectively down £20m at the moment (Ennismore 11, MW 6, Coltrane 3). I wouldn't be surprised to see them increase. Mirabeau, I doff my cap to you. | hammerd2
10/11/2017 09:40 | I am not a shorter. Sold mine this morning at a decent profit. Now waiting for common sense to take hold before buying again. | big_cat
10/11/2017 09:38 | Shorters had no chance this morning. Ambushed and burnt alive. Start of another long phase upwards. Main market horizon.. | pbutterworth1
10/11/2017 09:35 | Big_Cat - Nothing like the dot com bubble - you just need to understand the reasons for the placing (cash will drive future growth) - this is not a placing for more working capital! | stuart37
