This may be a question too far, but assuming an iP8 has a 3D sensor provided by IQE's wafers (up the supplier chain to say Lumentum) , can anyone venture a guess what that represents in terms of £ or $ sale per iP8 for IQE?

When you email your confirmation for attending the presentation. They ask what company your from and then reply back saying the presentation is for analysts only...which is a shame.

Sweenoid, I appreciate that you're being cautious, as well as correct, in saying that 'multiple' means more than two but, in practice and in everyday parlance, it surely means a good bit more than that. Other wordings they could have chosen to use are 'several, a number of, many, lots of,' etc. I just feel that 'multiple is probably the strongest.

Edit: similarly with 'multi' in 'multi year' contracts.

Think about how many iPhone8s are Being produced and the earnings per phone with these vcsel wafers said to be 3-5x what we earn from current phones.

Higher margins on 80% of the market, we have never had it so good.


I think the mkt still hasn't woken up, the analysts will be reworking their figures again before long as I don't think they fully take account the Apple orders

I don't mind repeating that statement, even though Poombear included it a few posts back
Why does anyone not understand that simple statement? MULTIPLE - means more than 2 , how many KNOWN suppliers of VCSEL 3D sensing chips supplying Apple- well we KNOW 3 or 4 Lumentum, ,Hynix, Finisair and 11-V1. I am guessing Apple would use a max of 4 suppliers, maybe just 3. Even though 3 of those suppliersan do it vertically, they don't have the capacity to produce enough product ;-)so will HAVE to outsource- and IQE OWN 80% of that outsource market.

So simply by understanding the above facts
IQE MUST be supplying at least 3 and probably ALL 4 and even better have multi-year embedded in their contracts

Need to see who has the other half of the VCSEL order, expect Finisar. And hopefully IQE supply both (multiple multi year contracts for vcsels)
