As an IMG investor, unconvinced by PH, however that is irrelevant to me as I am convinced by IQE ;)

PH well respected among IIs and HNW. This update has given the big money a huge steer on the near and medium term prospects for IQE, even more so if it includes US funds. Interesting that N+1 haven't issued an update yet. Maybe they will react first to the TU in July. Thanks for the quality of info/posts this week and kudos to sweenoid in particular. Onwards and upwards...

Yes, looks like institutions are desperate to get on board...there is no way this is PI froth.

Hopefully there will be some more follow through next week, although the share price is very extended from its 10 day moving average.

It seems like an age ago when someone last said a close over 70p would be a good sign. I think it was the day before yesterday. Today we're in spitting distance of a close over 80p. Things move quickly in the internet age don't they ? :-)

Someuwin - quite ;-)

Just out of interest, since I said I was happy to send out copies of the PH note I've had 31 emails about it. I've replied with a copy to all, so if you haven't had one it's because I didn't get your email. I think that's a good indication of a very high level of interest which goes well beyond the normal circle of posters on this board.

On that note I've seen Sweenoid's post this morning which is as interesting as ever, and it was a pleasure to meet him briefly at the AGM. I said yesterday but I repeat, that the contents of the PH note effectively restates what Sweenoid has been saying for some time. I make no comment on the detail of his forecasts beyond noting that I've long thought his views on this company are well worth reading in detail for any prospective investor. About the only thing he's said that I have reservations about is his infinitely variable 'cheap as chips' target price, on which I can see a bold adjustment ahead!

In any event it's been a good week so far - long may it continue!

gersemi, you were saying yesterday that:

"I have £50k burning a hole in my 'pocket' and I nearly bought today but I want to see confirmation that IQE wafers are being used in the AI-8.

I suspect there are many other investors similar to me watching this stock and can't quite press the buy button."

I hope for you that you bought early this morning. If not, I don't envy you the dilemma of trying to judge whether to chase the price before it goes further or wait in the hope of a pull back. Best of luck anyway.

The share price seems to have gone into even further overdrive since Prof Gibson announced his retirement ! I'm sure the 2 are not related :-))

I was very impressed with him at the AGM, shame I missed out on previous years as I'm sure he would have made an interesting listen.

IQE are feeding multiple different component types into multiple different end products in multiple different sectors.

Not reliant on any one of them. And many of them are going to see huge increases in demand in the coming months and years.

Expect the IQE share price to follow this data usage chart...

Dpmeyer, thanks for forwarding the research note. Just spotted it in my inbox, not had chance to read it yet, on my way out, but will read with interest this afternoon.

"but buying IQE an epistaxial wafer company would appear to be illogical"

unless they want to deprive competitors of the technology which IQE leads on. IQE would cost petty cash.

Repeat after me
Apple woukd never buy anything direct from IQE
Apple will purchase 3D sensing chips from their OEM's such as Limentum...and others.who get their VCSELS FROM IQE..and others
Apple might want to buy Lumentum but buying IQE an epistaxial wafer company would appear to be illogical

Some investors over-complicate and with a lack of understanding of IQE's business model get confused, some analysts fall into the same trap

I don't see how anybody could hide the association, unless a non public company. It would be too significant a step change in revenues at the same time a mass market product adopted the technology. Somebody said earlier that Apple could buy IQE, that would be a shrewd move on their part as it would limit the market for other mobile phone companies.

It can be a dangerous game, bragging about an Apple win. They have designed-out suppliers before for breaking nda. That's assuming they have an alternative supplier.
