O/T: Cat,

Didn't get the opportunity earlier - thanks for letting us know where you finished up. Good to know that all is well with you.

Skinny,

As a matter of interest (and only if you can), where did you find the Atkins report?

Specifically wondering if it was a County Council or government ministry website.

Given that you like to be right, I cannot believe that 125 P was just an arbitrary figure or a casual valuation so I admit to being curious as to the facts and reasoning that produced it. Why no less but then again given your certainties, why no more?

Sweenoid - quite right!

darkdogs - there were copies of the last 3 analyst note (Peel Hunt, N+1 and another one) available to all those attending the meeting, along with hard copies of the annual report. There's nothing unusual in them being provided.

David - where I come from you have to go through B to get from A to C!

Am once again thinking of the 'timing' and 'content' of that Peel Hunt note made available to us at the AGM. PH are a joint house broker, , I think it's inconceivable when they wrote that note that they didn't know about Imperial Park Newport?, in which case their comments are even more salient. It's interestingly that Connacord the other house broker has remained quiet, I think they are waiting to see what 'meat' is on the bone in the IMS before commenting. Either ways the wording of the IMS should be very interesting. 4 weeks to go

Sweenoid: "Cheap as chips under a £ from now on".

See, that's the sort of thing I meant when I suggested you had an infinitely variable 'cheap as chips' target price. But when I suggested a bold re-rating, I was thinking rather bolder than that! ;-)

OT

Swee and d seem to be embedded in Hockey - there is/was a hockey player in the Midlands whom all called Swede - because he resembled one.

Onward and upwards or so it seems

Sweenoid, I said "policy not to expand ... speculatively.

You said " not policy to expand .... in a speculative way.

We're saying the same thing. It's just the the "not" is differently placed. I was quoting Peel Hunt and so put the "not" where they did.

Actually, PH's wording is the more positive. It says what the policy is, whereas you say what it isn't.

I LOVE my tatt, the 'old' IMG logo- the one I have emblazoned on my arm meant something, it's all about squaring the circle- making the impossible happen. I like that concept so will stick with it.

The Peel Hunt note suggested that the £11 invested in Capex in 2016 , could generate $300million dollars of extra revenue and that since it WAS NOT the IQE policy to expand capacity in a speculative way, it is likely that, that capacity is related to firm orders. PH also stated that any further CAPEX spend in 2017 would lead them toward their lifting their estimations going forward. As was said and I have now boringly repeated, lead times on capacity expansion is 9 moths.

It's really hard for me not to get too enthusiastic here. Certainly the upcoming IMS and more importantly 1st half results in September afford IQE the opportunity to state an extremely strong case for investment

What Peel Hunt said in their recent brokers note was that "it is IQE's policy not to expand capacity in a speculative manner without being firmly embedded in a supply chain supported by customer qualification, suggesting ..... that any indication from IQE that new capex is required would imply that our more optimistic scenarios are within reach".

So, looks pretty encouraging then!

Cat-you forgot the flag (flew it at half- mast on down days, high up on good days, the t-shirt and most importantly my monument stone emblazoned with the logo ( picked it up from a Welsh quarry, had the stone mason engrave it and a crane was needed to stick it in the garden, seemed fit as our barn, grounds were all paid for by the profits on IMG - add in the London apartment too ;-) I always have fun with my investments ;-). IQE is gonna be bigger than IMG and then I am out of here.

GREAT find Skinny- this expansion is exactly what Peel Hunt signaled would be a big green- light for IQE. I wonder is some or indeed all of the expenses here will be funded by this recent announcement.

the empty LG site is an eyesore, it's unused since the Welsh Government essentially funded its building for LG who then pulled out, it was a monstrous waste of resources and cash. I should imagine with the kudos of the site, the employment potential that this planning application would get fast-tracked. It's only 1 mile from IQE HQ and will be ideal. I can't imagine 'another factory' would be built in Newport, surely this is the one that is supported by the initiative. If it does, IQE will, in essence, get a factory fit for zero and probably great terms on rent as well :-).
This in effect confirms the order-book status and future for IQE are very bright indeed. GREAT STUFF

Cheap as chips under a £ from now on

off topic again
Dave - first half of 2014 - I seem to remember you posted on the thread at the time as you were quite excited after I told you, but little did I think it would be an IMG mk II.
Anyway - well done.
BTW, I have a sneaky suspicion who that new IQE NE may be...
All good here.
Been mainly in US tech this past 2 years or so
Holding IQE though - but not in your style - I have other stuff too...
Fingers and D. Dan - I gave up on advfn a couple of years ago due to all the nutters / tipsters with multiple aliases / brokers with multiple aliases and started a closed Slack community with some very good guys. Just looked in on IQE as it broke on volume last week and I have seen some of Sweenoid's "enthusiastic" postings...
best of luck to you all

Arcadian,

There are known knowns, there are things we know we know. We also know there are known unknowns, that is to say we know there are some things we do not know.

But there are also unknown unknowns – the ones we don't know we don't know. It is the latter category that tend to be the difficult ones.

a knowledgeable and sharing cavalier without doubt ( for which many thanks) but as recent events have shown it`s the unknown unknowns that might make the typical investor cautious about 95 %

Just seen this on the IQE LSE web forum, from Faruggia1967

..Can only say an investment manager who was arranging additional finance and new premises to expand into the old LG Factory units in Newport South Wales.
Just watch..

If this is true may add to Sweenoid's point on additional capacity.
