Take a look at the future of semiconductors. The key word lies in the last sentence - GRAPHENE:

The house broker is well aware of the near-term potential and alluded to much of it in their last note. They stated they were keeping their forecasts modest for now and expected to upgrade during the year.

Under promise, over deliver does indeed appear to be the strategy here.

Yes that has crossed my mind and has somewhat put me off buying anymore.
There again for management it is always better to under-promise and over-deliver.

Yes, I have wondered that. Maybe management aren't getting the message across to the analysts. Perhaps a question to ask at next week's AGM.

This morning's purchase already doing nicely.

Is anyone else a little puzzled as to why, given all the positivity surrounding IQE's markets, opportunities, etc, no published analysis seems to indicate anything much more than a few % increase in EPS over the next 2 years ? You'd think at least one would have broken cover by now and gone for a storming increase.

Looking at the chart, I think we're due another sizeable move up.

Any ideas when IQE might start paying a dividend?

Hey sweenoid,

Do you think lack of share price movement is due to the AGM?

Cheers

If anyone is interested here is the brochure for the VCSEL 'day' presentation meeting being held in Cardiff today and tomorrow

Its a good intro to VCSELS and IQE's involvement with the compound semiconductor centre and European collaboration.

P22-23 26-27 and 32-33 are easy reading if you want to skip the rest, but the biographies of our CEO and others are interesting too

Will report back with my 'take' on the AGM next Tuesday/Wednesday, so later...

Not sure of any, if any, relevance of this, but thinking aloud a little.

IQE and NXP have done some work together on GaN in power. eg

Not sure if anything has come of this.

Also, NXP sold their power division to a Chinese VC outfit JAC in 2015

JAC rolled the power stuff from NXP into Ampleon ("including sales and support of the complete line-up of silicon-based LDMOS and gallium nitride (GaN) RF power products") - - and have also announced a JV with QCOM (who are in the process of buying NXP !!) to allow more access to QCOM IP for smaller SoC companies in China.

Not sure if there are any positive benefits to IQE from all this shenanigans but if the JV with JAC/QCOM can accelerate the use of GaN in mainstream mobile devices in the vast Chinese markets, you'd think that would be a "good thing" right ? Unfortunately my knowledge of this market is terrible - hopefully someone with more insight can take a scan and see if this is good, bad or no news at all.

Don't forget to vote people. Unless you're going to vote for the wrong party. In which case, do - ha ha !!

I've been watching from the sidelines and not sure what the short term holds for the share price They are either going to announce within the next 2 weeks that H1 is ahead of expectations in which case the share price will continue its rise or we won't hear anything, in which case the H1 will only show nominal overall growth. I'm erring on the latter but expect the H2 to show huge growth. I'm now back in funds but will wait to see what if anything happens in the next 2 weeks before jumping on board again.

News from MACOM, looking to implement GaN in a huge variety of sectors:

"MACOM Demonstrates “RF Energy Toolkit”: Accelerates Customers’ Time-to-Market with High Performance, Cost Effective GaN on Si-based RF Systems for Commercial Applications
Business Wire
June 06, 2017

MACOM Technology Solutions Inc. (“MACOM”) today unveiled a development kit targeted to help commercial OEMs quickly and easily adapt their product designs to incorporate GaN-based RF energy sources for a wide range of applications spanning cooking, lighting, industrial heating/drying, medical/pharmaceutical, automotive ignition systems and beyond. Leveraging solid-state RF energy as a highly efficient and precise energy source, commercial OEMs are poised to achieve new levels of performance and affordability for future product generations.

I'm sure there's a little treading of water at the moment with the run up to the election. Narrowing poles will generate a certain amount of 'concern' in the markets. In the massively unlikely event of there not being a massive Tory majority - who needs policies these days ? - there's a good chance of sterling plummeting amd any stocks - IQE included - who earn a reasonable wedge in $ could get a decent bump.

Hopefully because sales are booming. As part of the supply chain this should mean we are heading for good results!

Market doesn't quite get IQE yet it seems, but within the next 12 months I expect a serious rerating here. On the influence to 5g and fibre optics alone..

Macom now offering quite a number of GaN on Si power transistors. Correct me if I am wrong but I think these are all new products (2017?)
