Compared to what the situation was last year under the "inspiring and forward thinking leadership of CF and his henchman, I am content to say that we are still alive and kicking. That in itself is something to be applauded by all investors. It would have been a complete wipe out if LB had not stepped back in and rescued the company from the oncoming disaster that was about to happen.

The company has corrected the major problems, consolidated and I hope that within a short time will deliver 1st quarter production figures which will not only confirm this but also give us a great deal of optimism for the coming six months and beyond. Presuming that they do this, I suspect that, given a fair wind (higher iodine prices, increasing production and water rights), the discussions on this board will move towards how fast the company will grow over the coming year or two and not one of will the company survive. I, like many others, am nursing very large losses, and I look forward to the time when I will yet again be in profit.

PS. Thanks to all those who diligently researched into Iofina and expressed their honest views on this board, whether they be positive or negative.

Che - ni moi non plus. I was hacked off with your 'chill out' quip.

sg1 - so what are the consequences of failing to renew the 'jam tomorrow discharge permit' if they actually haven't renewed it? TIA

No worries, I didn't actually think you were reffering me as a bear.

I only mentioned that I wasn't in case one of my previous posts would be misconstrued.

I bought into AFC about 3-4 weeks ago now at 16p I think, sold at 26p and topped up here with remaining available funds.

Look at bloody AFC now, I'm a bit annoyed with myself thats all.

Anyway, GL

As you know we have been going on about water and it's the next big thing for some time here.

IOF have a jam tomorrow discharge permit which I hope they renewed (I may ask). I did send a renewal notice warning(to the right person) knowing that G and G couldn't sort the tea club, let alone the running of the business.

I think the clean up of salt water aquifers in the US will become common in the US in the future, but it takes about 4/5 years to get through the environmental permissions. Something which IOF have done and have in their back pocket already.

As for water permits and fraccing, there is no point arguing with the numpties as they talk about next week, not the 30 to 50 year life-cycle of an oilfield.

What they are doing now in fraccing (just 5 years on) makes the original techniques look like pagers v iphones.

alpha / nixon,
I wasn't referring to either of you as bears in my post, sorry if you construed it that way.

I see a lot of rubbish posted over the weekend and posts on other related threads, that's what I was referring to.

superg,
yes, I've noted your higher estimate, my estimate is conservative and at a level that I will be happy with. Hopefully less fracking, but against colder weather...

If we are above 94MT, I think the market reaction will also be positive. Double last year's production is significant growth in anyone's book which is achieved at that level for Q1.

As I said, I am hopeful of a good month here.

Thanks Fresh, it could be that way. I have monitored it long enough to know that null generally means awarded, but that null doesn't appear until after the other official documents appear.

That's from checking on dozens of applications. I'm also keenly watching for the outcome of the AMES hearing, as a positive there throws a door open.

Agreed SG. But it also highlights the strong demand for water in the region.

I thought you has found some interesting tech there 'hidden' in that link, a good add on to iodine plants.

Then I read this

Note that individual DyVaR units will treat 50 litres/hour (or 7.5 bbl/day), reaching capacities of up to 10's of m3/hr (or 1,000's of bbl/day).

A cubic metre is 6 barrels, and the capacity is 10's of m3, so 60 barrels per hour up. A 30k bpd plant deals with 1250 barrels per hour.

So sadly a non starter for IOF to clean up the water that goes through their plants.

Good morning Graham, let's start the day with a beer eh...

I sense rancour on here Graham, an underlying feeling of disquiet, almost an odd sense of impending revolution? Do you feel it too Graham? An ill wind blowing? Ah well, let's see how it all unravels eh... sigh, cheers mate!

Oh, any joy with top brass? Or is that a work in progress too?

The web site changed to null , then after a while was reset.
I know other applications stayed the same.
Therefore either maintenance or altered and whoops shouldn't have done that yet need to do Xxx before we release the info.
Could just be the wrong one was altered but can't see which one that would have been.

The Game-Changing Water Revolution: Interview with Stanley Weiner....

"For the North American shale boom, the lack of water is suffocating. Amid this doom and gloom, a water revolution emerges, led by energy industry figures who realized the endless potential of tapping into new water sources and processing them with advanced desalination technology that, for the first time ever, is economically feasible."

Going by last years numbers.. 100 T should be reasonably easy to achieve for Q 1. anything above that and I'll be happy.

Q1 2014 production was 47mt

Q2 92.9

Q3 78.7

alpha,
chill out, I always like it when the bears are agitated . . .

How dare you!!?

Have you suddenly beeen 'gifted' with the qualifications of a psychologist?

I’ve been posting here for well over a year and bought over half of my shares late 2013 and early 2014. You do the maths and then tell me to chill out!

Just for the record I'm not a bear in case anyone was thinking that.
Probably left myself open to some frivolous remarks there.

I would expect at least fine tuning of the current production regarding moving 1 production onto better location . They are running on the automatic pilot atm is how I see it. Doing nothing but waiting (as we do). I would like to see lots of sensible operational optimisations (hard every days work without big bangs). So I would see that they care. Attitude is important even when small effects.

Now tear me apart for "doing nothing, waiting, automatic pilot"

I've set the bar higher as you can see and Yes 220mt is the low end target for H2. So your figure taking warm weather yield increases into account may see us on track. I know Io2 is a good plant and MS reduced rigs to 4 in the relevant area and seemed to be drilling away from where io2 is. In theory io2 therefore shouldn't have seen the same level of disruption in the past. The unknown is drilling v completions as they are different things.

Like you I know less drilling/completions = more brine to plants, contrary to what others think.

All we can do is wait and see. Whatever day the news comes, an extra day won't change what the amount is.

alpha,
chill out, I always like it when the bears are agitated :-)

There are many opportunities that IOF have, either via 3rd party brine extraction, or direct SWD ownership, iodine extraction because of legislation in States outside Oklahoma etc.

We also have water application, oil rights, helium potential etc.

We have a Chemical division growing at 35% last year, continued growth this year.

Some factors working against us last year will turn in due time, until that happens, the true potential behind the figures won't show.

But the underlying business is sorted last year, measured growth to come this year IMHO.

Out of interest what would people consider a "normal" price for iodine as I think it was about $25 a few years ago prior to the Japanese nuclear disaster?

Each quarter as more or less pointed out recently is the same as a year end audit re production and inventory.

Monthly updates were just production. They only reason they 'shot themselves in the foot' is to do with the share price and where or where it may be depending on what they said.

If they had been looking to fund raise and have had some very good months then perhaps news to support the share price would appear. They don't need funds and the share price will sort itself out on the back of progress.

My personal expectations (neck on line)

Anything below 100mt then I would want to know exactly what held them up. Although this would not be below the target for H1.

120mt, a good amount considering the winter period lower yields and tweaks they needed to make.

Anything around 135mt now that would be very good (winter) and could mean 150 or more in Q2.

Yes I am very keen to know how they have performed, but I personally an glad to see the back of monthly updates.

Iof 1o2 or another good plant is down for 10 days in any month then it's offline for 33% of report period. 10 days over 3 months and it has a near 90% 24/7 run rate. No company is expected or should give to give monthly updates, there was a specific decision on that due to the change of the guard.

The problems created by the old team were identified and the last 6 months or more have been about fixing that.

I'm going for 120 plus btw as I have monitored where Midstates and others have been drilling.

Well,
I think we are in for a good month, as I've said, anything above 94MT leaves us on track.

Anything more, and we will be set to beat expectations.

The share price isn't pricing in anything until news happens, so I'm amused that bears are so fretful at lack of news.

For long termers, growth will have to factor at some stage...
