02/3/2015 09:57 | But it is now recovering old boy and those who were suckered in at 14p may have a good deal old boy. Time will tell. And as for the takeover failing who knows if a new bidder is waiting in the wings with the recovering oil price And why we're people suckered in? They are gamblers and took a chance. 02/3/2015 09:55 | With all the focus on water, some new investors do not appreciate that IOF is more than a one trick pony. The chemical division is a super company in it's own right. | ![]() rogerbridge

02/3/2015 09:17 | Just add on an iosorb plant. Most contaminants have been removed, it should be fairly easy for IOF to set up removal of iodine as the flows and chemical make up of the water won't vary by a lot. A steady long term iodine removal process, payment for plants, and use of their technology, with as you say IOF picking up the iodine. Opex zero, capex zero. I like the sound of that, with perhaps money on top. So in those circs it could end up in simple terms, as a minus figure on opex for iodine production, from those sources. There are different companies doing it, so I would imagine some would be keen to be the first mover to gain business. | ![]() superg1
02/3/2015 08:59 | IOF certainty would know how to remove the other contaminates, they could do a JV with another chemical disposal company who have the right piece of kit with IOF charging and keeping the iodine. I would imagine that it would be possible for IOF to manufacture their own plant or buy in propriety kit and go it alone. The question is how much of a priority is it with all of the other balls up in the air right now. It certainly should be lucrative and long term. | ![]() rogerbridge
02/3/2015 08:50 | Yes it looks like something that can't be ignored. The option to inject brines isn't available in New York, Penn or West Virginia. They would have to take the vast majority of brine out of state at high costs. The easy answer is remove the iodide, and there is a simple, not very expensive solution available, via plants or mobiles. IOF paid to supply plants, and the all the expertise around training staff etc at brine treatment sites. Being a chemical division they will know how best to deal with the ammonium too. | ![]() superg1
02/3/2015 08:49 | Dunelm (DNLM) 70p special divi for those on the register at close of play tonight and a further 5.5p normal divi due on 13th. Good solid company IMO. | ![]() woodpeckers
02/3/2015 08:38 | They have a much larger problem up there than I had first thought SG. IOF certainly have the technology that would deal with the iodide, it could be quite lucrative. I had the same thoughts as you on the payment for clearing up the water. This could be a new business model with payment for clearing up the water and revenue from iodine. | ![]() rogerbridge
02/3/2015 08:10 | Chewin 1130 AFR: Expected outcome just happened.Feel sorry for anyone suckered into it. Afren got a reprieve from bondholders - your feelings of sorrow for those 'suckered in' appears misplaced old boy. Wrong on IOF too? Time will tell. | ![]() escapetohome |
