02/3/2015 07:57 | Sites that take such waste water. From 2010, it doesn't list iodide as they didn't think it was a problem. Plenty of treatment plants around that may need help by the look of it. | ![]() superg1
02/3/2015 07:35 | Pennsylvania and West Virginia This spells out the issue nicely Two hazardous chemicals never before known as oil and gas industry pollutants – ammonium and iodide – are being released into Pennsylvania and West Virginia waterways from the booming energy operations of the Marcellus shale, a new study shows. The chemicals then are making their way into streams and rivers, both accidentally and through deliberate release from treatment plants that were never designed to handle these contaminants, the researchers said. The researchers said their study adds to a growing body of evidence that government action is needed. "There are significant environmental and ecosystem impacts of current [oil and gas wastewater] disposal practices in the U.S.," they wrote, "Regulatory action is needed to address these concerns." How nice that IOF are the only company in the US with the viable tech to help out. The obvious answer for the iodide is for those treatment plants to in an IOF extraction unit. IOF being paid to do that, and collect the iodine. | ![]() superg1
01/3/2015 21:58 | Sand The comment on that was that a while back was that they had over 100 sites that would bring greater returns. If IOF had not acquired the io2 site from Arysta then Atlantis would be all we would have potentially. It was Arysta that applied for the 3rd party patent for SWDs. Fortunately the Arysta tech wasn't viable and they gave up. Terry Brix who was behind it all, nearly blew a fuse when he realised they had given it away for peanuts to IOF. A lucrative iodine site, and a US-wide patent protecting the business idea. | ![]() superg1
01/3/2015 21:27 | "They do have some good iodine ppms down there apparently." They do have some small ppms up there in Atlantis - but they do have some huge bbls pd. Given that the original plan was to get 1000 tonnes pa from Atlantis and then sell out to the highest bidder, has there been any mention of the resurrection of that plan at all or is that now dead in the water? (No pun intended). | ![]() sandbag
01/3/2015 21:18 | Something else on the way mentioned before. The SCOOP in OK. Remember we mentioned the Mississippi boom before it really hit the radar. SCOOP is the one that will follow on from that, in the next few years They do have some good iodine ppms down there apparently. | ![]() superg1
01/3/2015 18:14 | Monty Old gas wells with quite a few around. It's not just about oil wells there is plenty of iodine rich brine around from gas wells too. It's gas wells that others in OK target for iodine. | ![]() superg1
01/3/2015 17:59 | As Mr Carlisle works away with his 1960's typewriter, a bottle of TIPPEX and another one of Jim Beam does anyone here know of any unused SWD's in NW OK? Just that in the Dec 2013 update(with a useless CEO) they mentioned acquiring old SWD's and then operating plants like Toyota do in Oklahoma. | ![]() monty panesar

01/3/2015 11:22 | Thanks Phsycho. When IOF did their discharge permit, the lawyer they approached laughed them away saying 'never in a month of Sundays' would they get it. So they did it in-house, and achieved it. | ![]() superg1
