Don't buy IAG shares the Weasel who wants to effectively rip up 42,000 contracts and start again has no place in this society.

Monty, IAG Board are desperate for cash as can not raise the billions they need without a prospectus disclosing the scale of the horror, which would crush the placing. Treating customers fairly is a luxury they don't have. They are like frightened starving stray dogs, don't expect good table manners.
Market confidence in IAG is currently the cube root of zilch. People posting about upward surges are profoundly misguided. It will enjoy the odd dead cat bounce on strong market blue (up) days. Holders might want to look away on market red (down) days. 170p has to get to 0p in 200 trading days so it needs some -5p or -10p days here and there, in between the +/- 2p days. Retail punters can cling on to up days and dream of salvation. But there is no escaping a -£10 billion balance sheet at 31 March 2021. All imho. DYOR

If they don't refund passengers, they could lose future business and goodwill, not good PR. Crazy give them their money back.

El Al on Thursday warned it was in danger of collapse if bailout negotiations with the government fail.

Israel currently only allows citizens and residents to enter the country, and they must undergo a two-week period of quarantine upon their return to the country. Only a handful of flights enter or leave the country daily.

El Al has suspended all regular passenger flights and is negotiating with the government for a bailout package. According to the statement, 90 percent of its staff has been placed on unpaid leave.

The plea came a day after Finance Minister Moshe Kahlon offered the battered airline a lifeline via a $400 million state-backed loan guarantee on condition it agrees to raft of extensive reforms. If the airline declines the offer and all its terms, it will likely be broken up and parts of it sold off.

Delta Air Lines forecasts for sharply reduced traffic will mean it needs smaller network, and aircraft fleet, in the years ahead.

"The board of directors on May 13, 2020 authorized a plan to retire our Boeing 777 aircraft and remove them from service by the end of 2020," the company said in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission. "We also previously determined to accelerate the retirement of our MD-90 aircraft, which will exit the fleet effective June 2020."

If BA does not scale its payroll back from pre-Covid levels, it would collapse and require a far bigger bailout from the Government.

The industry may need that eventually anyway. But taxpayers’ money should only go to those who’ve set themselves up to operate as profitably as possible.

MPs should praise Walsh for behaving responsibly rather chastise his lack of profligacy.
