22/7/2020 11:40 | One airline U.S. analyst said "business air travel in the US is dead." When covid is over, plenty of tourists will wish to travel over the pond to the U.S. again, tourists who fly on the cheapest tickets they can get hold of in tourist class and just fill up the seats at the back of the aircraft where as it is Business and First class business travellers where BA makes the vast majority of its money. Reported yesterday that United Airlines cash burn was $40mln per day for 2Q and expected to still be $25mln per day during in Q3 and they are the best of the 3 U.S. legacy airlines at stemming their daily cash burn rate. | ![]() loganair

21/7/2020 12:49 | I've noticed the airlines who have had to reduce their work force the most in percentage terms are the old so called legacy airlines because they are too over bureaucratically overstaffed and are inefficiently run and therefore their costs are way too high. Whereas many of the new successful airlines are successful because they are streamlined and efficiently run and therefore their costs are much lower. All I keep hearing is, you can not allow the airlines to go bust because they are the back bone of the country. I agree that airlines are the back bone of any country, however I would allow the likes of American Airlines to go bust and to be replaced by more streamlined and efficiently run airlines. Sadly on the whole Unions are not about and function for the protection of their member workers, they are more about the 'Power and Greed' of the union leaders. | ![]() loganair

17/7/2020 16:21 | I'm hearing that 30% of Face to Face business meetings that requires flying have been permanently lost for ever, makes sense for BA to retire their B747s early as there is no longer a need for so many business and first class transatlantic seats. This loss it due to companies realizing how much they can save from their travel budgets having their business meetings via the likes of zoom rather than face to face. | ![]() loganair
17/7/2020 11:57 | On the downside, British Airways and Iberia owner IAG was the worst performer on the FTSE 100 after BA announced late on Thursday that it was retiring all of its Boeing 747s as the travel industry takes a hit from the pandemic. Please do your own research as always. | qantas
