Buy - And Delta are reducing their work force by 25,000 with United already announcing a 36,000 reduction in their work force.

Delta have also reduced their fleet size by 100 aircraft and are likely to reduce by a further 50 aircraft.

Earlier on in the week, a flight from the USA landed in Madrid with just 4 passengers on board - not exactly money making!

Delta Air Lines (DAL) is a much stronger position than many of its peers

It does not bode well that DAL posted a loss of nearly $6 billion for the April-to-June quarter, its worst since 2008.

I was tempted at 204. But had said I was not coming back until sub 200. Annoying that I missed out on today's little burst, but long term it will show it true colours. Then it a 16 month slog back to 4 Hundy.

copper......I am afraid I have no idea about 2019 but it is a substantial increase on longhaul flights running at the moment, I am told. Still a long way to go of course.

Fidelity - Another sector which has seen its world turned upside down is travel. Whether it’s the Government’s advice to steer clear of public transport, or nervousness about getting in a sealed metal tube in the air with dozens of potential super-spreaders, transport companies face a difficult future. We have been here before. The number of people getting on a plane collapsed after the 9/11 attacks but, within a couple of years, journeys were back at pre-attack levels, and the growth continued unabated for nearly two decades until the current crisis. With Video-conferencing it is hard, however, to see companies being willing to tolerate pointless air travel any more. The cost is too high, both in terms of hard cash but also reputationally in a world that is increasingly focused on protecting the environment.

Most all companies who haven't managed to maintain at least 60-70% of their revenue during the last 3 months, and next 3, will be loading up with large amounts of new debt or share issues to generate cash.
Either way, many companies medium term future, say 5 yrs, isn't looking that great.

All is not lost.

Commenting on British Airways’ return to London Gatwick, a British Airways spokesperson told Simple Flying,

“We’re looking forward to starting a small number of long haul services from Gatwick in mid-July. Throughout July and August, we’ll be consolidating our Gatwick and Heathrow short-haul flying to operate form our Heathrow base. This enables us to drive operational and cost efficiencies across our business at a time when demand is yet to return and international travel restrictions remain in place.”
