Careful... I think what you refer to is greed leading to irrational exuberance. The hope of ever increasing asset prices, which we as small investors have been caught up on.

We can only try now to identify companies with a strong margin of safety, invest and learn not to get too greedy next time.

I hear pilots have been asked to take a 50% pay cut... while uncle Willie only takes a 20% cut and some execs refuse to take any cut at all! There's leadership for you!... Leaders eat last! Not a concept everyone is familiar with

Hindsight a wonderful thing. Thank goodness I sold at 602p. The stock market gods were smiling on me that day.

What a disaster for all things aviation.

Today the once mighty GE in America is in free fall, Boeing close to bankruptcy, Rolls Royce share price collapse, IAG in serious trouble.

If only we could go back to December and off load some shares retrospectively.

Shares are at these levels primarily because people over leverage themselves and are forced to sell.
ie, if they didn't have to sell they wouldn't, but they do and here we are.

droud...I just question whether a lot of the shares would be at these levels if it wasn't for shorters but I understand your position given that it is available.

Maybe you're right Mikey. Of course there's a much bigger driver at play here which to be honest I wish would eff off and let me get on with my life. But I'm going to make money any way I can. I don't hold most of these big companies in particularly high esteem from a moral standpoint. I certainly don't feel guilty especially when I'm just betting on the direction of a main index over which I have no control.

Dround....because it can be self fulfilling and help to drive a share price down.
A lot of these trades are algorithm driven which is also unhelpful.

But it is. Depends on the method to be honest. Most methods available to private investors are not really shorting. For example most private investors "short" through a spread betting platform. What's wrong with that?

dround ........I don't think shorting should be permitted, certainly not in this market.

Lol there's a big stimulus package coming from the US. Everything rose sharply towards open then collapsed immediately. 5th short from 5150 in less than a week! I've made thousands. In this range.

Ny Boy. Again with your unlimited pockets, buying more every time it rises a tad from a large dip.
You only surface here when markets go up a couple of percent but then AWOL during the large drops. Yawn.
Here you filled your boots all the way down to 400p where you said was a bargain???? If they had listened to you then they would need the current share price to at least double just to get their money back, just adding a 'DYOR' after your portfolio promotion here doesn't excuse you.
