24/7/2024 06:58 | Heathrow Airport has reported a record passenger number this morning, with almost 40 million people using the West London hub in the six months to the end of June. The last day of the month was its busiest ever. Almost 270,000 travellers used the airport then. And it said it expected the looming school holiday getaway to be a "bumper summer". Staff numbers are at a record 90,000 "Team Heathrow colleagues. | hutchmeister
23/7/2024 22:31 | This recent drop is either based on misplaced concern re recent news events or the usual early leak syndrome. Always get a little concerned when leading up to Q news theres a drop. That said I still firmly believe in IAG and they did handle the recent IT issue very well. Still confident next week we will see this over 180 at last. | 1spitfire
23/7/2024 15:24 | Not many FTSE 100 names have earnings like IAG last year and likely to be nearly equaled this year in the low £billions, sell on a P/E ratio of 3.5. Also this year will probably start paying a Dividend after lowering debt quite considerably. The airline sector is seeing strong travel demand going forward and are starting to manage their fleets more sensibly to increase margins. I happily hold Aviva and LGEN and a few others and their P/E is well above 10. So quite happy to add here on recent weakness influenced by the software debacle last Friday and Ryan Airlines set-back due to competition in the budget airline sector. My contacts suggest that IAG managed to limit the damage of last Friday unlike Delta Airways although the latter are over the worse. Just need to be patient I guess. | cyberian
23/7/2024 11:00 | The Times. Business. "IAG likely to get greenlight to takeover Air Europa this summer" IAG owns 20% and is paying €400 to buy remaining shares. European aviation watchdog have given themselves a deadline of August 20th for decision. I think it may have made financial sense to buy them on the upcycle but now that the industry is heading south not so much. European economy specially Germany is having a hard time | whatsup32
23/7/2024 08:50 | American Airlines report on Thursday I believe. They flagged some of their issues back in May which has sent them from around $15 to $10 share price as a result- they are at COVID lows now despite record flying numbers.United reported that they see August as the "inflection point" for domestic capacity reductions across the industry. So one would think that whilst American will report a slightly under par Q2, and warn of the discounting in Q3 owing to the excess capacity, there are some big capacity corrections coming in the US airline industry from Q4 onwards, which should start to help margins? | fundamentals23
23/7/2024 08:04 | What's the latest news re dividend payment . This is too long a wait | cerrosdelaguila
22/7/2024 22:31 | From what I am reading here and the US in the airline sector is that management decisions over the last year have been misplaced or badly conducted. Many particularly in the US have not managed personnel and collaboration with other agencies/parties, and have upset critical travel agencies. This is true at American Airlines and I now see that Delta have been more significantly effected by the event of last Friday (by Crowd Strike)and their software systems have failed to re-set their crew and plane locations causing nearly 18% of flight cancellations compared to just under 1% by the other US main domestic competitors this Monday. The cut throat cheap low cost providers in UK and Europe have paid a penalty on pricing and are belatedly cutting capacity to hopefully prevent any further fare cutting. So where does this leave IAG. The answer will be in the 2Q numbers release but it appears that management may have organized themselves better than others given the market dynamics which is still seeing strong demand. IAG have a dominant loyalty product and a lot of lucrative long haul business. Again many of the US and other majors are expecting improved revenues and demand through the late summer and the winter ahead. If IAG can get close to their numbers a year ago then we may be able to enjoy and breathe again as last year was exceptional with respect to demand and margins on fares. Profits hopefully still look very acceptable on a yearly basis compared to others in the sector and most other sectors. Best wishes as anything written here has absolutely no impact on what will happen in the market!!! | cyberian

21/7/2024 11:16 | I've got the champagne on ice ready to celebrate Andys prediction finally coming true lol. However I have a feeling we will see a good bounce back this week coming. If you consider the IT issue only hit the share price marginally plus Im aware BA did remarkably well in avoiding big cancellations it sends a clear message of real confidence as we approach Q2. GLA and for the golfers love to see Scott do it today or Rose. | 1spitfire

19/7/2024 09:55 | I must add the media are so irresponsible at times. Alarming headline grabbing doesn't cut it.Fix now in place and will be resolved. Impact no where near as large as the headline suggests. Shocking | 1spitfire
19/7/2024 08:34 | Great opportunity to top up.I.T issues make big headlines but are usually rectified fairly quickly. Disruption contingency plans kick inflights cancelled then BAU returns with the nice bounce back imo. | 1spitfire |
