Sounds personal. At present I'm in paper profits in IAG as a result of the virus.

Many made huge profits by shorting banks and builders during 2008 at the demise of many losing their homes but it doesn't mean the same people making those gains are taking joy from the awful situation.

If you think that of everyone who is making a buck through savvy decision then you would also believe that medical experts are in jobs as a result of peoples illness. So are you saying doctors need people to have severe illnesses so they can earn a living?

Are you saying funeral service companies take joy in people dying?

Please think before you post something that's all I request.

I don't know normally short and seldom do it. I hate shorting as it appears to me as a method not conducive to investing - where else can you place an investment to hooe that investment decline ???

But in this situation almost all stocks will decline severely I'm afraid.

Senior Japanese Government Adviser Says Coronavirus Can't Be Stopped

Posted on February 25, 2020

Japan is shifting strategies in its battle against the Covid-19 coronavirus and admitting it cannot stop the spread of the virus. The virus is proving difficult to contain completely so they are focusing more on caring for those hit hardest by the virus - the most serious cases - and slowing down the virus's spread.
A story in The Washington Post quotes Shigeru Omi, a senior Japanese government adviser, as saying, "We shouldn't have illusions. We can't stop this, but we can try to reduce the speed of expansion and reduce mortality."

The virus spreads so quickly - and sickens a large enough percentage - that there are not enough hospital beds to take care of the sickest people. Hospitals and staff quickly become overwhelmed. The seriously sick people are also staying on ventilators for extremely long periods. A Bloomberg story says, "Critical care resources in central China are being strained by coronavirus patients needing a month or more on mechanical ventilators." Tens of thousands of people requiring mechanical ventilators will overwhelm hospitals even in countries with modern healthcare systems.

2700 deaths due to the virus........pales into insignificance when compared to the
380.000 + killed in the syrian war.
people really need to put this into perspective,

Unfortunately it’s not the death rate,no matter how grim : it’s how mankind reacts.

Everyone expecting good figures on Friday and probably will be, but investors don't look in the rear view mirror, its the guidance going forward.
Any kind of negative news regarding Coronavirus this could be 495p.

Like I said amazed especially an airline its not at 525p now.

Vast majority of airlines are going bust.

Within 8 weeks a great many will have gone.

It’s plain and simple

The virus and mountains of debt

If they stop international flights to stop the spread, then 410p for IAG.
Tenerife and Austria latest, but I reckon one case in US, then another 1000 points off the Dow.
