The flu doesn't kill young doctors. No city has ever been in lock down over flu. So yes I think this is more serious. Less people will be flying. Do you want to be in a confined enclosure like a plane with people sneezing all over the place.

What a call yesterday. The markets will severely tank for the foreseeable future. Especially big comoanies.
Banks miners and airlines to clear the brunt of it.

Going immensely short on IAG.

Another one getting toasted, this is a shorters graveyard pre results

Why such market panic...

The CDC estimates that as many as 56,000 people die every year from the flu. When did the window of opportunity go to contain that.

That has been going on for some time, even when the price was £6.40 ! Usual OTT media, as per foot and mouth, SARS etc. Still have the redundant Tamiflu vaccine in my 'medicine' cupboard.

GLA - keep smiling.

With the scale of the issue "Virus" and markets tendency to overreact, surley this could fall 20%?

I’m out of IAG , the virus is main reason and last weeks new spread has put me off travel companies. I’m a weekly flyer on BA and for sure like the company , but I believe there is a real issue with this virus until at least spring and if I’m investing in companies with better divi returns in case it’s longer term drop. Will be back at some point

Qataris have done well so far, almost doubled initial investment.
Heathrow IT problems will have a small impact but IAG will no doubt, reclaim losses from HAL, as it was not an IAG problem.
So, minimal financial impact.

Any concerns are all short term . Long term this is a great stock to hold, with good divi returns and growing share price

Yes told them already, could have saved themselves a few bob. LolI think figures will be ok next week, but traders don't look in the rear view mirror, it's what they say going forward.

Shame momentum has stalled, and therefore difficult to know how to play...hold and trade some with results next week. Suspect forward guidance maybe more guarded than I had hoped in view of global impact related to virus issues now more concerned outside of China. However, once clear of worries over virus issues, a recovery in confidence/sentiment maybe quiet strong.

To make some extra money, I'm re-shorting the suffering stock MCRO. Apparently montyhedge has been losing mega bucks on this - so it's a win, win.

I made a fortune on it earlier this month.

All brokers have been massively cutting share price target forecasts this month.

A note today from UBS says "Revenue Growth Continues To Thwart Micro Focus".

Micro Focus downgraded to ‘neutral’; as UBS predicts ‘long and difficult road ahead’

The bank said it saw “no near-term catalyst” for the share price as the troubled software group continued its restructuring efforts

Credit Suisse cut its price target to 630p and put an underperform investment rating on Micro Focus. That seems generous given the recent dire results and this week's downgrades by Moody's and S&P as above.

Jefferies International, Barclays Capital and JP Morgan Cazenove have all also slashed their price targets during the last fortnight.

Current price around 800p. My next target for MCRO is 500p.

Ultimately, 0p is possible in my view.

A massive short opportunity.
