28/7/2011 12:06 | thanks shano, here`s some Alphaville comment... Inmarsat PLC (ISAT:LSE): Last: 541.00, up 24 (+4.64%), High: 560.50, Low: 510.50, Volume: 1.36m BE It's on confirmation that LightSquared has agreed a deal with Sprint Nextel BE Sprint Nextel and LightSquared today confirmed a long-anticipated network-sharing deal designed to spur the creation of a 4G network. BE Under the terms of the 15-year deal, LightSquared would pay Sprint $9 billion in cash and an estimated $4.5 billion in credits for LTE and satellite equipment. In exchange, Sprint would host LightSquared's spectrum and provide network services, while LightSquared would have roaming access to Sprint's 3G network. BE Which, obviously, is a positive sign that LightSquared might one day have an actual business. BE And keep paying the spectrum rent it has promised to Inmarsat. BE Though it's still got to resolve the small issue of its network monkeying around with guided missiles. JC ? BE Ok. Just "military equipment" .... I'm not sure if that includes guided missiles. BE But the network overlaps on the GPS spectrum. JC Ah... I remember BE Specifically, the bit of the GPS spectrum used by Navy Seals. BE So .... er .... good luck, Mr Falcone. JC Also GSP receivers used by emergency services JC and the coastguard, and NASA. Interesting problem. BE Yup. So it's a hedge fund manager versus Navy Seals, Nasa and 9/11 vet firefighters. BE As I say .......... good luck. 11:56AM BE (@yogabba: Falcone sold his Inmarsat stake but remains the owner of Lightsquared.) | philanderer

26/7/2011 21:44 | I am interested but will wait until the interims on 4th Aug. If they are decent and the share price looks like it will climb back to a level that will take it safe from the relegation zone I will take my first stake. I would rather pay 550 with some certainty that we are moving in the right direction than 520 not knowing. | salpara111
26/7/2011 15:26 | Salpara111 - Yes, that might be part of the reason for weakness, I'm not adding anymore for now, still happy with the dividend and waiting to see what happens ref FTSE. | losos
23/7/2011 13:34 | I guess that the market cap now heading into FTSE 100 relegation zone does not help matters either. | salpara111
20/7/2011 15:57 | betman - "The key point they seem to making is that there appears to be a large decline in future orders for new shipping," I guess that like many industrial sectors the shipping companies are intending to make their assets work harder, eg. turning around ships quicker, making then go a bit faster, adding fuel economy upgrades, reducing manning, etc. all of which means they can put off placing new orders. | losos
19/7/2011 15:08 | Hi Losos, I agree fully with your comments on a slow recovery and agree that ISAT should benefit from this especially with the new Global Express service. The link between shipbuilding and satelite comms was not mine but the FTs. The key point they seem to making is that there appears to be a large decline in future orders for new shipping, it appears we are going into a double dip on shipbuilding so the recovery phase may be a long way off. I believe there is still a large market for current ships where ISAT are not installed so new equipment and increased data traffic should provide grwoth oportunities. The market seems to be taking a very long term ( negative ) view, that accelerated growth for ISAT from installing equipment on new shipping will not be as previously anticipated | betman
19/7/2011 13:37 | wad collector - I think they will pick up but not quickly, will add a few myself betman - shipbuilding and satelite comms not similar shares or sectors but it is true that all shipping will be going over to broadband internet which has so many advantages, most of the big carriers already have it installed, if ISAT can manage to make a profit on the subscription services (which shouldn't be difficult) then as the world recovers from the recession they (ISAT) should see a decent increase in freight shipping which in turn will be good for ISAT The problem as I see it is this 'recovery' will NOT be like all the others, it will be slow and gradual and we're looking at years rather than months that's for sure so ISAT share price will languish in the nether regions, but the divi is not bad and that helps me to keep the faith lol | losos
15/7/2011 15:16 | It certainly looks good value and a fair yield, but currently is a falling knife. results due 4th Aug, is somethingn nasty lurking about ? Has anyone ever suggested a merger with a mobile outfit like VOD so VOD would be truly global with need for mast infrastructure etc ?? | betman
15/7/2011 14:50 | betman , I think the fall has been due to ... 1- Huge debt pile 2- Expensive rating 3- Divi cover roughly around 1.5x 4- Growth projects of 2-4% which is below market consensus expectations 5- Uncertainty around future business 6- Overall market sentiment is bearish All of this can take it down to 500 or even below ... | attrader
15/7/2011 14:37 | Chill mb69----it's a buy and forgot share, one to tuck away with a fair divie, just remember to top up if needs be---GL by the way :P | redips2

15/7/2011 14:13 | Just had a small top up----these shares are cheap enough at these prices--- be brave and just follow your instincts---all IMHO :)) | redips2
15/7/2011 09:39 | I was thinking of buying into this company. Global communications seems like a good business and no need for fixed line infrastructure seems good for emerging markets. Also massive entry barrier to others coming in. However the shareprice is back to 20009 levels and fallen from over 800p. Is there a good summary of why this is so out of favour ?? | betman
