02/11/2020 09:18 | What an @, all My colleagues are Professors, but your right SitC, better than reading the recent HUR related posts. | thanksamillion
02/11/2020 07:39 | Sense- he was an MD- as are most of my colleagues and friends. Your idiocy -which you are waving like some flag of pride, for some reason- sees you filtered too. Ah- that’s better. Back to the sensible fellows who post on this board. | agnabeya
02/11/2020 06:46 | Keep it going, this is the most entertainment this board has seen all year. Was this ‘chap’ you speak of a flower pot? | senseinthecommon
01/11/2020 23:14 | Sense- from a clinical point of view that (cull) is exactly what many doctors and nurses were saying. The approach was so wrong based on facts- that one chap I knew considered it ‘planned mass murder’. You might not know the premise of ‘herd immunity’- and why should you? But the medical advisors to the govt sure as heck knew. But this isn’t the forum for this kind of discussion. I don’t want to distract from Hur. | agnabeya
01/11/2020 22:29 | Right you are, Agnabeya. I take my previous statement back (ref. respiratory virus). However, the Government culling conspiracy comment is up there with the Flat Earthers. | senseinthecommon
01/11/2020 22:01 | Dont worry folks as soon as the effects of no alcohol purchases after 9pm kicks in you will wonder why they didnt do it sooner | whitedukejay
01/11/2020 21:54 | C'mon Biden. Couldn't give a monkey about the share price let's get that dotard out of Washington. And I don't particularly like Biden either Lol | leoneobull
01/11/2020 19:53 | I remember from the past that agnabeya was a somewhat incendiary character who was a master of making sweeping assertions without evidence, and then angrily filtering anyone that challenged him on those assertions whilst swerving the issue on which he was challenged.Well, the hypothesis still stands. | amr20l7
01/11/2020 19:39 | AMR- Total ignorance??? Act of depravity?? That absolute nonsense aside- yes this particular virus is unprecedented. And the Government had plenty of warning-yet chose to ignore it. The very fact it was unprecedented and unknown is §the very reason a complete lockdown should have happened as soon as the virus got close. My continued survival is due to the precautions I have taken. You presume to know all about me? I despise presumptuous people. Filtered. | agnabeya
01/11/2020 19:33 | Sense in common- wrong. This taken from infection control today.com in September. “ Several recent studies have supported the growing hypothesis that coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is primarily a cardiovascular, and not a pulmonary virus. The narrative that those affected are usually asymptomatic and have very mild or no disease may be false.” | agnabeya
01/11/2020 18:44 | It’s fascinating to read agnabeya’s critique of government policy in managing a totally unprecedented national crisis, and to conclude it’s directed by an effort organised around the principal of letting the weakest perish. Who is guilty of the greater act of depravity here? The accuser or the accused? Given that he demonstrates a smug know-it-all self-satisfaction borne of total ignorance, I’d say his continued survival somewhat contradicts his claim that the government is gunning for the stupidest in society. | amr20l7
01/11/2020 18:00 | MMS keep sweeping the legs folks. I am staying safe in my Dojo, I will get a bloody nose this time if I enter the ring. I will have to let the Senseis here do battle and I learn their Art. Kai Strike First Strike Hard No Mercy, | cobra kai
01/11/2020 14:07 | Just my tuppence worth for Monday. | ngms27
01/11/2020 12:09 | Agnabeya ...I still say they are managing their first plan- to cull the elderly, frail, weak- and too-thick-to-live- by Darwinism… Absolute nonsense. Why on earth do you a) believe such utter drivel and b) spread such unfounded theories via discussion boards set up to discuss shares? | tournesol
01/11/2020 09:37 | Ag, Covid-19 is a respiratory illness, just like influenza. The main difference is that they are caused by completely different virus’. I think you need to take your tinfoil hat off and stop worrying about the illuminati! | senseinthecommon
01/11/2020 09:24 | @ngms27."Only three? I?ve been married 5 times and have 17 children, three sets of twins amongst them."........are you Henry VIII re-incarnated? | telbap
01/11/2020 05:02 | I would have gone further than you, on this Frank. If the entire country had closed it’s borders back in February-when it first began- and policed the countries borders seriously for two weeks- we would have had the same chance as Taiwan and New Zealand. It would have been justified in that this virus- although belonging to known influenza groups- was a completely unknown quantity. It was even incorrectly classed a respiratory virus at first. When you have an unknown infection- the first step id making sure that not catching it is the first line of defence. The talk of ‘Herd Immunity’ in the first plan was lies- and they knew that. When they said they were being led ‘by the Science’-I knew the science could not be saying that-and they were lying. These partial lockdowns- then releasing of restrictions- are exactly how to spread the virus as much as possible. Despite being given good advice- and social distancing is the most effective- they can see a lot of people are very thick and won’t follow any advice. I still say they are managing their first plan- to cull the elderly, frail, weak- and too-thick-to-live- by Darwinism. I am shielding- have been since I heard of the first case arriving in Britain. I didn’t wait for ‘advice’ | agnabeya
31/10/2020 13:07 | agnabeya: Totally agree, here is an extract of an email I sent to my local Tory MP back in April: 'I am flying seafarers all over the world to join our fleet of Drillships/Rigs. A lot of countries are not allowing them in or out. In some cases we are having to quarantine them on arrival in foreign countries or before they leave the UK. We have rented whole hotels to allow this. In all cases we carry out testing before they travel and on arrival. As you can imagine this is a huge cost to us but we do it willingly in the hope that it will speed recovery I am certainly not saying we close the borders, far from it, but I am most definitely saying we should temperature scan (I lived in Korea from 2007 - 2014 and every airport/station had simple walk through temperature scanners), advise people of what actions are required on arrival in the UK and track them. All my personnel are advising that there is no advice given to them whatsoever on arrival in UK. You state: 'Travellers returning to the UK on flights from abroad must go straight home from the airport, avoiding public transport where possible. They should also follow the Government advice that applies to everyone when they arrive back in the UK: stay at home and only go outside for food, health reasons, daily exercise or work if this cannot be done from home.' but who is telling them this? What if they do not have a home in the UK? Without border checks no one knows where people are going after they enter the country - this will make the next stage of 'track and trace' almost impossible. The comprehensive track and trace regime in Korea has saved thousands of lives. I believe that the UK has done extremely well in flattening the curve and my comments aren't meant as a criticism, simply a suggestion for improvement as we move to track and trace and we must bear in mind that the death toll is still rising. Why would we not check why people are coming to the UK and test them? Korea has shown us the level of discipline required to defeat this virus. This great island nation of ours is blessed with fantastic natural borders, let's use them to our best advantage and beat this thing so we can fire up the economy again.' His response was pathetic | fat frank
31/10/2020 07:16 | I'm 312 years old and have looked after all my Children. It's not my fault all my previous wives didn't live as long as me. | ngms27
31/10/2020 05:50 | Frank- I don’t doubt you- there may be a more durable vaccine now. I’m talking about the 70s! :) Plus in a poor country with erratic food, water and health care access- large sections of the population are weaker and more susceptible. Same reason homeless addicts have weakened systems here- they are always picking up infections and not eating well. You are right- even if we have to get a vaccine every 6 months - we will still be able to restart the economy. My son’s offshore in Taiwan. He’s just gone back there- but is now quarantining in a hotel very strictly for a fortnight. He had to be tested before he flew back too. Hence Taiwan has very few cases. I truly thought the UK would take that path right at the beginning. It is an ideal strategy for an island. Oooh- don’t get me started on that. :) | agnabeya
30/10/2020 22:31 | WOW!!! That's your first post that has impressed me..... | fat frank
