Yes, easy to put an age to any new sediments being produced.....stick them under a microscope & age the fossils....

If the sandstone in the toe is chipping in, it does suggest that most of the kilometre horiz section thru FB isn't. & what, if it's recent, has prompted the sandstone to chip in now.....

Does anybody know more about the technical implications of Lincoln and Lancaster being interlinked? Is there a chance we could effectively drain some of Lincoln and that this would replenish Lancaster, thereby sustaining the reserves beyond kitchen sink? If this is happening, it might influence Spirit's decision...but 100% of Lancaster belongs to HUR vs. 50% for Lincoln.

If i've completely misunderstood it's cause i am no engineer...

tgg - HUR should have an idea whether the toe or 6 is producing from the sand stone, as it will "probably" be producing sand as well.

Sandstone is usually very friable and wells designed to produce from it are always cased and perforated, IME.

I understand that the Lanc wells were open hole, including the toe section, so any production from there will generate sand, which should make its way to the production separator of the FPSO, from where it must be periodically removed. Perhaps this was why they had the unscheduled shutdown last month..??

Has anyone heard anything from the vessel along these lines...?

Your posts seem to be predicated in the belief that the company is basically finished, which is why, by your own admission, you have withdrawn all your money and suffered a large loss. Your arguments are therefore affected by "confirmation bias" in that you need your decision to be right to validate your decision to exit. This is not a reasonable basis from which to try and influence others towards your view. You might also be suffering from "hero syndrome" ie the need to save others from themselves.

CA on the other hand have "put their money where their mouth is" and have invested quite heavily here. They have shown that they have done this with not inconsiderable success over the past few years and clearly see a landscape at considerable variance to your own view.

Nobody can foretell the future so everyone's opinion is relevant, but perhaps a bit less of the endless negativity would be nice.

One other thing that occurred to me - re the so-called Contingent Resources.

Prior to the Technical Review, Lancs well 6 had a kilometre long horiz. section, with production thought to be from the start of that km section (the "heel").

After the TR, guidance hasn't changed much, although now an unspecified chunk of well 6's production is thought to come from the sandstone onlapping the FB (the "toe").

Presumably Well 6 was designed to take advantage of a number of fractures across the FB, but seems to rely on just one large fracture. What about the near one kilometre section between heel & toe? Worth bearing in mind when consideering the guesstimate HUR have put on the size of Lancs Contingent Resources

I hoped I made clear that I'm not saying CA are correct. Only that in my experience insider buying is usually a positive and CA at least 'semi inside'. No one on this Board can dismiss their sub OWC oil theory nor evaluate the potential of sandstones since too many unknowns at the moment.

I have now watched the most recent presentation 3-4 times. I recall on my first live view, I was shocked. Subsequently, I have come to believe that all is far from lost, although not good. I urge those that have not already done so to re-visit, and focus on language used and the degree of uncertainty and estimation still prevalent, bearing in mind they worked to a worst case scenario. Bev Smith seems reasonable/reasoned, and cautious. It would be good if somebody could post the positives and negatives from the tech review.

You are one of the few posters who I believe to have genuine integrity

Thank you for that, the feeling is mutual.

I'm sorry for coming across as unreasonable and droning on and on and on.

I don't intend to be unequivocally hostile. I feel as if I'm expressing an honest but unwelcome opinion in the face of people making unrealistic and over-optimistic comments. I think I said previously that I feel like I've escaped from a burning building and am standing (lightly toasted) on the pavement outside, shouting a warning to those still inside. It feels like there are a lot of folk here shouting advice to those inside to stay inside because the danger will/might pass and even talking about people outside going back in.

I've suffered some really awful losses in my time, (SOLG anyone?) where I really wish someone had highlighted the counterfactual to the bull case and made me think a bit more so I'd been moore alive to the risk.

I readily admit/accept that the danger might pass. I accept/admit that Hur might recover. But I feel that it's very unlikely and that it is better to face up to reality squarely.

Better to survive with a big loss rather than stay and lose 100%. After all if the share price did go back to 10p most people would bail out in a heart beat rather than hang on for the remote chance of making a further multiple, so most long termers would still be taking a substantial loss. The chance of anyone who bought at 20-30-40p ever recovering seems vanishingly small.

Having said all that, I hear and respect your comment and do not want to be a pain, so I will stop posting here for the time being. I've probably taken too much band width already and I guess I'm repeating myself.

I sincerely hope I'm wrong about the ultimate outcome here.
