30/10/2020 17:24 | Nice story Frank. I think there are many people who have followed through caught holding HUR these past few months aswell. | ngms27
30/10/2020 16:17 | tournesol: I first joined the Merchant Navy at 18 and presented myself at the British Shipping Federation for medical(cough)and vaccines. In those (very) long ago days, before WHO eradication, the Smallpox vaccine used a 'scratch' method which, I was warned, could lead to a very upset stomach. That night my impending departure to far away places with strange sounding names was celebrated with my friends. The night was somewhat spoiled when I 'followed through' on the bus home. Happy Days indeed..... | fat frank
30/10/2020 15:51 | When I worked for an oil major it was a condition of employment that we kept all our innoculations up to date - all the usual stuff plus a raft of other things including smallpox. Even after the WHO declared smallpox eradicated we still had the regular booster shots. Basically the co did not trust the standards of medical care in many of the countries we operated in. The malaria pills we used had to be taken for a while before arriving and after departing and some of my colleagues just took them all year round regardless of their location, just to make things simple. And we had annual checks for internal parasites too. All lovely stuff. I remember going down to the London HQ for injections when I first got the job, my wife had to do the same thing. We had a large number of shots all at the same time. By the time we got back from London to Macclesfield neither of us could use our left hands because of the pain and swelling. Had to do a double act to drive home, me pressing the clutch and shouting, my wife changing gear with her good arm. Fortunately it was only a short drive home. Happy days. | tournesol
30/10/2020 15:34 | agnabeya:From 'Centers for Disease Control and Prevention' website: "For most people, a single dose of yellow fever vaccine provides long-lasting protection and a booster dose of the vaccine is not needed. However, travelers going to areas with ongoing outbreaks may consider getting a booster dose of yellow fever vaccine if it has been 10 years or more since they were last vaccinated." Anyway that is just detail - my point (probably badly made) is that we can still have a worthwhile vaccine even if antibodies do not last long. We will just require shots frequently That's all - not pretending to be an expert, never have. What I can say is that my parent company are in detailed talks with European Government agencies to ensure that Oil & Gas workers are on the priority list for vaccine. You may know that we are already exempt from UK quarantine requirements. | fat frank

30/10/2020 14:51 | Frank- not in the Middle East. In the UK perhaps. Of course it’s a longtime since I was there- but in Sudan most everyone everyone was getting treated once a year. | agnabeya
30/10/2020 14:06 | Fat Frank Why do people pontificate on things about which they know very little? ...there are other vaccines that do not last very long - why do people think we need a Flu jab every year????? It's NOT because the flu anti-bodies are short lived. It's because there are many different strains of flu and they keep mutating to create even more new strains. The annual flu jab is targetted at a handful of strains which medics expect to be the biggest threats that particular year. Sometimes they get their predictions wrong and we get a wave of flu of a different kind that was not targetted. | tournesol
30/10/2020 13:50 | Never had a flu vaccine in my life and the first person who brings a vaccine near me will regret it for the rest of their life. I was born with what is called an immune system. | guy_fawkes
30/10/2020 13:37 | hiddendepths: I would also like to point out that there are other vaccines that do not last very long - why do people think we need a Flu jab every year????? I fully expect we will need regular Coronavirus jabs. | fat frank
30/10/2020 12:23 | Is that AT's coming in as buys more frequently ... | mhin2
30/10/2020 06:12 | “Goldman says a Biden win could be a 'positive catalyst' for oil prices”: “We do not expect the upcoming U.S. elections to derail our bullish forecasts for oil and gas prices, with a Blue Wave likely to be in fact a positive catalyst," Goldman Sachs' commodities team wrote. “A Biden administration could provide a further boost to oil prices by making production — especially for shale — more expensive and more regulated.” | valueinvestor17

29/10/2020 16:34 | Brent $37 most of the day. I don’t see us rising much until next year- unless a vaccine with a decent length of immunity appears soon. So far infection acquired immunity from Covid is fairly short lived. Not enough data yet to say if this is general or to specific groups. I think it will be a yearly jab-like the flu jab- for some years to come. I think some sort of vaccine will appear to allow the economy to restart. Even if people are still having to wearing masks. The most at-risk groups are being more clearly identified. I think a plan to work around covid will be in place by the end of the year. I don’t think POO will recover until then. GLA | agnabeya
29/10/2020 13:12 | Pro, Yes I do admit to being somewhat facetious in my post mainly to point out how ridiculously low the share price is and I agree we are now in binary territory. My own circumstances is a slow death on a massive loss. | lunanlodge |
