07/8/2019 18:24 | Bocase, it's been a while since I last posted this but still a link aside from when interrupted by newsflow... Brent:.............. Hurricane is the clear relative winner though over this timeframe due to Lancaster positive progress. | bountyhunter
07/8/2019 18:14 | One company that could potentially soon shake things up dramatically in the US is Tomco Energy (TOM). They are currently undertaking a field test on oil shale (not to be confused with shale oil) production using RF transmitters to heat the shale and then extract the oil. This process was proven to work in the 80's but the massive oil price slump then made it non-viable. Results of the fields test will be known in the next couple of weeks. Production costs will be determined by the flow rates achieved in the field test. Last company presentation done by Tomco in April 2018 ....... As always, DYOR. | damac
07/8/2019 18:10 | Hi Tg, did you dip out of the Kellys Hero stock altogether? | scaleyman
07/8/2019 17:52 | That is true but you have to look at the relationship between the shale gang and their banks..........the banks want their loans back. Next is overstocking........ Then the market is against HUR and most of the other oil/gas exploration businesses.......... Its a mess so at 38p or somewhere around this figure I will buy back in. | anley
07/8/2019 17:32 | I had some trouble trying to upload graphs using tinypic - it's closing down this year and will not work for me. However, for those that don't know, the production from an Eagleford shale well in Texas declines by up to 75% in the first year - Hence the comment above about running to stand still. | the guardian
07/8/2019 17:22 | Hello31 ...The first indication on negativity at WD and well ahead of the official RNS release, was the news leaks on drilling losses… What do you mean please? If by drilling losses you mean loss of drilling mud, then AIUI the problem at WD was the virtual absence of such losses. If you drill through fractures then you expect drilling mud to be lost into the fractures. At Lancaster there was a huge amount of loss, which told us that there were lots of fractures. At WD there was hardly any loss, which translated into hardly any open fractures. I was not aware of any leaks concerning the low level of mud losses during drilling of WD. Did I miss something? | tournesol

07/8/2019 17:03 | Katiegos, In my opinion the significant difference this time with the US tight oil producers is that there's little appetite to further finance them either by way of debt or equity issue. Since the oil crash of 2014 something like only 6 of 30 have managed to deliver 'profits' by way of any sort of return to shareholders despite having blown around $250 billion in finance to get where they are, they keep repeating the mantra that production costs have come down yet it's not showing on the balance sheet. Many have exploited their best prospects and now they are having to run just to stand still drilling increasingly more wells to maintain production growth. The US rig count is down around 13% since the beginning of 2019 so some are obviously cutting back now on drilling. This will take time to feed through to production cuts but imo the back end of 2019/early 2020 will see a plateau and subsequent fall in production. Opec lost out big time after the last crash betting that shale would flounder, I personally see a different outcome this time and I don't think it will matter whether WTI is $50 or $60 (they've already cut back on capex at $60). A convenient war in the middle east and the associated hike in POO might keep the wheels turning though but that's just me being cynical. | prefab

07/8/2019 16:32 | Master RSI. Yes that is the problem. Would be interesting to superimpose HUR's chart and the oil price chart, if anyone is clever enough to do that. | bocase

07/8/2019 16:12 | There is a lot of speculation about HUR's share price is falling and what will turn it around. It seems quite simple to me. The principal problem is the oil price. As Tournesol pointed out in an earlier post, E & P companies are valued on their reserves and the value is dictated by the oil price. Thanks to Trump's trade war and other factors the oil price is down about 10% on the week and so is HUR. Of course positive news would help and hopefully we are not too far away from that. | bocase
