Bocase, I think Tuesday is there but the question is 'How big a window will they want before setting sail?' As the window (at the moment) seems to be getting smaller, the chances of going for it must be reduced. I'm not being optimistic or pessimistic, just taking it as it is. Hopefully it will change again and the winds will die down.

Believe me, nothing would make me happier than to see the AM set sail and hook up early next week.

No problem, two on topic posts are better than none and show agreement as you say :)

Bounty:

Sorry to basically duplicate your post. Started posting and got delayed by a phone call.

Good to see we are in agreement about the chances.

"Some claiming Monday weather window is now gone - and nothing till April

Is that true weather watchers"

No The weather window is still there for Tuesday. (See swell below) and we cannot say there is nothing after that, as the forecasts do not realistically go beyond 10 days.

Still hopeful for Tuesday though subject to change either way.

ops schedule working was a 1 hr delay this morning just left Dyce

re the AH vessels slight adjustment to length of charter on one of vessels as I see it

all pointers on this front will be weather related
basically hook up and rig move will happen we just have to wait for things to unfold

I fully accept your thesis and accept that such operations are more subtle than normal trading. I assume that many here will own SOLG which has in my view been nursed very gently at 37p until the time is right for the majors to acquire the world class assets which most analysts etc agree are worth considerably more. I accept that paranoia may be at work but you are right to draw attention to interesting anomalies.

Bear in mind that we were at 60p in October with more risk on the table than there is now.

Edited to remove reference to AT trades

I see no signs of stake building, it's not impossible but currently it's just a notion.

Appreciate you taking time to respond HD.It would b e a huge shame if a bid did come along but with Kerogen owning such a chunk, any bidder would need them onside eventually..Given how long they have been here I cant see them rolling over for now ball bid.Time will tell. In the meanwhile, we need hook up!!

Hi you sound like you are aware of something ?

HH - the best stakebuilding is done gently, mostly consisting of quietly mopping up sells rather than taking stock on the offer. Sitting on the bid, or just above it on the baords, is very effective, especially of you have got the sellers interested by pushing up the price initially.

I was involved in several stakebuilding operations where 5% was built up without any suspicion whatever in the market.

HD - Other than the huge 30+ mill trades a couple of days ago I cant see any other significant volume days that would indicate a huge stake building happening - or am I missing the obvious ?

I don't know about anyone else but I'm getting just a few stirrings of concern about the rise of the last couple of days. It's probably innocent enough but I don't think an impending spud is likely to be the cause, and an imminent hook-up seems as iffy as it has for a couple of months now.

This delay has presented a window of opportunity for a predator to strike. I really, really hope there's not a bit of stake-building quietly going on ahead of the launch of a bid. If that is what is happening, it's being managed very well and would suggest a really professional approach from a very serious player.

A share price goes up when people are willing to pay more to buy it and down when they accept less to sell, its got little to do with volume.

Fiona Scott - you are of course correct. Shares going up generally means more buying than selling.

I used to sit next to a very senior marketmaker at work and he was asked at least a dozen times a day why a stock was going up or down. His stock answer, refined over decades, was always "more buyers than sellers" or "more sellers than buyers." It never occurred to me to try to correct him! Obviously my post of yesterday should have used quote marks. I hang my head in shame. ;-)

Monday not now looking as good on windy.com re swell but the forecast for all day Tuesday's swell has moved in our favour, but a bit gusty especially in the afternoon? Best conditions would be overnight Mon/Tue but anyone's guess if they will go for it right now I think. If they do the AM should be off sometime at the weekend.
