Are you sure; the last spike up prior to the aborted hook up was rumoured to be the CF purchase

The other problem with tidal is that it is trying to operate in a very hostile environment.

Water is incredibly powerful and salt water very corrosive.

I have been involved with wind power since 1995 and it is no coincidence that wind power is prefered ahead of tidal.

You stand as an MP on your manifesto and you are elected on what it contains.

It's weasel words like yours that have allowed MP's to justify ignoring a referendum they said they would respect.

The conservatives also said they would leave in their manifesto so theirs is accepted because they won and Labour can tear theirs up because they lost, try telling that to leave voters who voted labour!

Buzz,

No political party that has its manifesto rejected by the electorate is under any obligation to stick to that manifesto. Indeed, it would be absurd if they did so. Why continue to bang on about something that the electorate has rejected?

Mr X001

What a mess parliament is currently in. Not a fan of May, she seems to be unable to listen or see other options and she is surely no leader but heck one is left in awe with her obstinacy for her option.

She's the only leader who realises and respects the vote was to LEAVE and that meant the single market and the customs union as Labour stated in their manifesto and which they have reneged on purely for political means!!!

Well when nothing is happening on the HUR front, sure lets us discuss other things, although I'm sure we would all prefer some HUR action.

Buzzzzz - Slack water only happens for a very short period relative to how long the tide runs, plus slack water happens at different times around the coast.

Roll on Hook up.

Hi Steve 73,
Many thanks for all the background information, it gives a good level of confidence that when the weather does change for the better, hook-up should happen this time and everything will be swell!!! (fingers crossed)

It would be good if Hurricane respond to my email and corroborate/update the information you have unearthed.

I was going to avoid the climate change argument and wait for HUR news, but ...

Have you never heard of slack water?

True Buzz, I suspect what our Hyper friend means is that there is a maximum tide flow at some point around Britain 24/7, and that tidal flows (unlike wind) are entirely predictable, so in theory at least it's possible to set up a chain of tidal generators that produce 24/7. (As well as having the benefit of not obstruction landscapes or seascape - unless you are fish)

Tidal energy is certainly interesting, and worth consideration and research, though the indications are that it's expensive, and that there are limited points where tidal flows are sufficient to make it really worthwhile - at present, but I can certainly see it being part of an integrated solution that combines generation from many sources.
