25/2/2019 08:33 | I was the only one who questioned his inside info when he first started posting and now he has been proved wrong has disappeared. | gary38
25/2/2019 08:25 | Looking at Bristow's flight schedules, in the past, when a flight isn't to Lancaster field, it is referenced as 61[Letter], as is today's 61H. When flying to Lancaster field it was just 61. Wednesday's 13:00 flight is referenced as simply 61. | rahosi
25/2/2019 08:01 | Buzzzzzz - I've got news, you won't get any back... | control1
25/2/2019 07:59 | Just read thru the weekends posts, that's 5 minutes of my life I won't get back. | buzzzzzzzz
25/2/2019 07:54 | Arcadian, he got it wrong, not been seen since | fatnacker
25/2/2019 07:51 | That's correct TG. | fatnacker
25/2/2019 07:48 | What happened to our insider? | arcadian

25/2/2019 07:41 | fatnacker, the AM didn't need to fit a new rope to the buoy. It could have been done by a support vessel. Truth is, we don't know. | the guardian
25/2/2019 07:41 | Checkout RRE, it's done a Serica!!!!! 😀😀 | bountyhunter
25/2/2019 07:35 | Steve thanks for the detailed info re the arguments re FPSOs vs fixed platforms, much appreciated. Re AM it turns out my guess last night that it may be going back to Cromerty was correct. It wasn't very far away anyway so don't see any reason why the AM shouldn't still set off either today or tomorrow for Lancaster in time for the weather window Thu/Fri. | bountyhunter
25/2/2019 07:01 | The rope needs fitting to the buoy TG, I was hoping they would have sailed by now. | fatnacker
25/2/2019 06:48 | What's the problem? If it does have the new rope fitted (and we don't know if it has) and is going for the weather window starting Thursday, it doesn't need to set sail until late Tuesday. | the guardian
25/2/2019 06:31 | Back at Cromarty anchorage, ffs. | fatnacker
25/2/2019 02:23 | bh, FPSO's have tended to be used mainly for smaller fields, for a relatively quick in-out, and then redeploy (like the AM), although in practice the cost of redeveloping them for another field specific application often makes them uneconomic, (especially if the risk of problems is fully costed), but sure for a small field it does reduce decommissioning costs a little. Obviously for deepwater applications fixed platform are unsuitable (eg. West Africa), and as the shallow basins become more fully exploited, exploration now is into deeper water so this will lead to more FPSO being used. But in relatively shallow water, larger fields (with much longer expected operating life), then fixed platforms are usually more cost effective. Fixed structures usually have a higher upfront cost, but lower ongoing costs. Also, fixed structures are especially suited where ongoing drilling is expected to continue during field life, since it's much cheaper to drill from a platform than using a mobile rig (plus all the associated subsea infrastructure). The other factor is oil export infrastructure. Export by pipeline is much cheaper than by shuttle tanker, (depending on distance of course), but the pipeline is another upfront cost with insignificant OPEX. In West of Shetland, BP have moved on from FPSO's (Foinavon, Schiehallion) to fixed platforms for Clair. I believe Rosebank will be fixed as well, and our neighbor Solan is fixed, albeit normally unmanned and with a subsea storage tank (but it's proving to be a bit of a white elephant!!) For GLA or GWA FFD's, I think there could be an argument for either a fixed structure or FPSO's. If these fields prove to be able to deliver as expected, their size and their reserves suggest to me that fixed could be preferable. If it looks as if many wells will be needed, with regular work-overs, sidetracking, or infill drilling then this adds weight to fixed, but if the EPS demonstrates better reservoir connectivity, then a requirement for fewer wells would favour towards FPSO's. I'm pretty sure at this stage they'll be developing conceptual plans & designs for either option, and refining them as the EPS performance is observed. ..and of course, if Hurricane opt to remain independent, the higher upfront costs of fixed development(s) may rule them out compared to a leased FPSO. It's going to be an interesting decade.. and hopefully a very lucrative one. | steve73
24/2/2019 22:23 | Grampian Sovereign now off back to Aberdeen. | zedder
24/2/2019 20:25 | Well that explains why the AM has not been going anywhere, the crew are probably a mixture of Scots, English, Welsh and Irish who have all been engrossed watching the rugby! AM now stopped again, presumably for the night, fishing trip over. If they want to get to Lancaster with a day or so to spare before the oasis of calm starting Thursday then maybe they will be off tomorrow sometime. | bountyhunter
24/2/2019 20:17 | Sincerely hope they haven't gone in search of that elusive English grand slam. That will require much patience - saw quite a few discarded chariots yesterday. :-) (Apologies for the off topic - says a Welshman who was at the match) | lfdkmp
24/2/2019 18:18 | Grampian Sovereign departed AM for Aberdeen. | whiteslice
24/2/2019 18:15 | No idea it would seem unnecessary but the AM did seem to be heading that way just recently albeit slowly. Probably they are just having a laugh with us while waiting around. 😉 | bountyhunter
24/2/2019 18:13 | If you are right about setting off on Tuesday, what is the logic of going to Cromarty first? | rahosi
24/2/2019 18:10 | Yes I noticed that lol! They have not been very good at keeping the destination/ETAs up to date of late. I do wonder though whether it will be back to Cromarty before setting of for Lancaster as there is still plenty of time. If they go for hookup Thursday / Friday next week I imagine the latest they would head off in earnest would be Tuesday. AM Status: Underway Using Engine Speed/Course: 2.5kn / 142° Strange bearing. | bountyhunter |
