Could the AM be heading back to Cromerty after some kind of exercise before setting off for Lancaster in time for the weather window from Thursday next week? | bountyhunter
24/2/2019 16:26 | Steve, is there a tendancy towards using FPSOs for full field development now rather than fixed platforms to reduce future decommissioning costs? I realise that in some parts of the world they are used due to the water depth but as far as I know that would not be the deciding factor in our licence areas in the NS. | bountyhunter
24/2/2019 13:49 | bh. .. your first link in ...648. We could probably eventually do with something about the size of that Engina FPSO. 200,000 bopd, with a storage capacity of 2.3MMbbls. We'd only need just over 1000 offloads to drain our reserves/resources(a | steve73
24/2/2019 13:05 | lol, sorry it was a bit of a mess viewed on a mobile but I've tidied it up now :) | bountyhunter
24/2/2019 12:43 | Let's hope the oil reserves are as massive as that post. | rahosi

24/2/2019 11:04 | Steve, I have to admit that the wave watching is becoming pretty tedious and a close second to watching paint dry! Bring on the tanker watching that should be more fun, especially if the share price is higher post hookup although I don't want to assume anything right now. Meanwhile we can dream... | bountyhunter
24/2/2019 10:38 | bh.. LOL @ wave watching. It'll be good to get back to simple ship-watching as we look for the offloading tankers. (I still keep an eye out for Kraken & Catcher offloads after more than a year, and even the odd peek at our neighbor, Solan, that's now almost 3 years into its production..) | steve73
24/2/2019 10:26 | Yes damac there were quite a few posts yesterday! Here's hoping all this wave watching will be history by Monday week, and the best of luck to all the crew on the next attempt. | bountyhunter
24/2/2019 10:25 | May be even three or four ropes if they come from the EU lol! | bountyhunter
24/2/2019 10:25 | bountyhunter 24 Feb '19 - 10:21 - 41642 of 41643 damac, hadn't that vessel been discontinued as possibily to do with a wind farm in the vicinity, yesterday I think Cheers, I didn't see that post. | damac
24/2/2019 10:23 | I don't suppose they picked up 2 ropes just in case! | mickinvest
24/2/2019 10:21 | I think we are all agreed that Thu/Fri next week is looking very likely now for hookup being the best conditions we have seen to date and of the required duration. That's assuming of course that they have the new rope of and everything is ready which seems likely. damac, wasn't that vessel discontinued as possibily to do with a wind farm in the vicinity in previous posts | bountyhunter
24/2/2019 10:16 | Do we know if the GV Resolution is part on the AM fleet now or not? Do we need a cable guard vessel? I note that the GV Resolution is not due back in port until 17th May. | damac
24/2/2019 10:13 | Looking good for Thursday/Friday. Fingers Crossed: ATB LTH's | mallye
24/2/2019 09:59 | The other interesting thing about where they are is that it's just outside the 3m limit. AM and GS appear to have been stationary pretty much together for sometime. So what might they be transferring that's easier or cheaper to do outside the limit? Presumably they might be subject to less regulation and harbour costs if they were refuelling there? Though refuelling at sea to save some cost seems a little unlikely. Perhaps it's duty free champers for the post hook up party? | greyingsurfer
24/2/2019 09:32 | Yes probably the best we have ever seen it for Thu/Fri since we started this weather watching lark! ;-) | bountyhunter
24/2/2019 09:23 | I agree, that Thurs morning till Friday night looks very good. And for a third attempt I would definitely be in position and ready. K | korvet
24/2/2019 09:21 | Who knows what they are doing? None of us for sure! But it's not impossible they are checking out DP systems, doing drills related to the pull in, testing a rov etc to try and ensure smooth progress next time? Or just gone fishin' to kill time. Or even giving the BBs something to talk about. The possibilities are almost endless. | greyingsurfer
24/2/2019 09:11 | Yes that's what I've been thinking, they may be allowing more time due to the new rope especially if there is still one end of the failed rope attached to the buoy. I see that the AM is at anchor for now. | bountyhunter
24/2/2019 08:27 | I'm thinking if it's a go for Thursday they might allow themselves two day shifts to fit the new lifting rope and prepare so they might make a move later this evening or tomorow morning, that's assuming they've got the new rope. | fatnacker
24/2/2019 08:05 | The Marie Celeste of the North Sea, abandoned by its crew and drifting with the tide? :-) | v11slr
24/2/2019 07:47 | They're just trying to find somewhere to dock for brunch. | soilderboy
24/2/2019 06:46 | Magical Mystery Tour. | rahosi |
