23/11/2018 14:52 | Brent at the year's low, below $60 and on the verge of a death cross. Yikes! | hiddendepths
23/11/2018 14:51 | The Times has a full page spread on BP today and the development of the Clair which describes a sand stone fractured bottom. Also see hxxp://sp.lyellcolle I assume this is different than the Lancaster field, can anyone help me out here | technocat
23/11/2018 14:48 | Sods law predicts high winds and wild sea's as soon as AM gets to WOS! | buzzzzzzzz
23/11/2018 14:38 | Weather seems to be set fair WoS (relatively) for next few days - just saying... | whiteslice
23/11/2018 14:37 | Hyper Al. The IEA have done the most comprehensive forecast for years and it was produced last week. Even allowing for all the expected greenery (wind, solar, electric cars etc) they do not expect to see the peak in global oil use until around 2040. If you look at the oil use per capita of China, India, Indonesia and other populous developing countries and compare those figures with the US, say, you will see why that is very likely to be the case. I have noticed your advocation of electric car use before. I for one am not yet convinced. If you can ensure that nearly all the electricity used is from nighttime home charging then I would agree. If it means higher daytime demand, especially on still winter days, then the pollution generated through producing that power is significant and more than offsets the benefits of utilising slack production capacity and zero vehicle emissions. Just look at the marginal sources of fuel for power generation! Oh for a big improvement in battery technology. Then it could well be a no-brainer. But not yet. I do however note that some advocates of electric cars use different figures and come to different conclusions. So despite the risk of being attacked by some on here for my analysis, I will continue to drive what I see as being the greenest option at present - either an efficient petrol engined car or, possibly, one of the new breeds of diesel. These are widely tarred with the same brush as older diesels, which have always been horrendous producers of particulates in particular. But the new ones are dramatically better and should at least be considered by anyone with green tendencies looking for a new car. FWIW I have long believed that car manufacturers have a lot to answer for. There is no reason at all why every car shouldn't do 120 miles per gallon (shows my age!) and that's been true for decades. The cost to the motorist would be poor acceleration and a top speed of maybe 80mph. Is that such a price to pay for cleaning up vehicle emissions? | hiddendepths
23/11/2018 14:37 | Is that wishful thinking. | gary38
23/11/2018 14:34 | 30p next stop | john09
23/11/2018 14:26 | If so ,could be that the AM will spend less time in Rotterdam. | gary38
23/11/2018 14:26 | Two tankers nearby also, fuelling for ongoing journe perhaps? Draught has dropped significantly. | scaleyman
23/11/2018 14:22 | Two heavy load carriers nearby anchorage, maybe repair at anchor?? ie not docking?? Stack fixings should still be as was, upgrade maybe just drops onto studs, nuts on tighten, job done!! Belly plate dropped to sea bed, heavy lift fishes it up afterwards?? | scaleyman
23/11/2018 14:13 | was thinking the same! ...maybe the crew fancied a long weekend onshore in the Netherlands! | bountyhunter
23/11/2018 14:10 | Seems a bit odd to race up the channel at 9 knots only to then park up for three days, which I assume is not cheap? | davidblack
23/11/2018 13:48 | pretty much there now around 5nm out from Scheveningen (which handles emergency only ship repairs so yes presumably just a staging area for the AM) | bountyhunter
23/11/2018 13:47 | It looks like three days at anchorage before entering Rotterdam, so no chance of sailaway to field by Monday. | chopsy
23/11/2018 13:44 | I would bet that the 12 of December date is the maximum time it will be in the yard probably allocated before it sailed from Dubai. Judging by the article this week it could be off by the end of the month to site. Perhaps we will get an RNS Monday to confirm. | blueclyde
23/11/2018 13:43 | Btw, the Nissan Leaf ain’t exactly cheap, carwow quoting in the region of £30+ grand! I paid something like that for my Mazda CX5 sport. Lovely vehicle 🚗 | rayrac
23/11/2018 13:40 | WM You are correct. It is most probably waiting for a berth to clear in Rotterdam. | geordy2
23/11/2018 13:28 | geordy2, The AIS destination says "NL SCE ACH", which I expect stands for "Netherlands Scheveningen Anchorage", ie. she's not going right into the port, but stopping outside. | wessexmario
23/11/2018 13:18 | stepone68 you get more Deathrace 2000 points for sneaking up on the wrinklies, more again if they're in a wheelchair!!! Not funny of course!! That Carradine character has warped our then youthful perceptions perhaps? Definately not PC these days. | scaleyman
23/11/2018 13:14 | Thanks Hyper. My commute in Fife is about 2 miles so I'm definitely looking at electric for the next car - Renault Zoe also getting good reviews. We've got solar panels so I'm hoping fuel costs will be next to nothing. Should just about be able to get me to North Berwick beach and back:-) | stepone68
23/11/2018 13:07 | Someone answer him? Clair field not a fractured play. | rayrac
23/11/2018 12:56 | Please excuse me if this sounds a silly question BUT what is the difference between the HUR field about to be worked on and the Clair field which BP have 45% stake in and is a fractured play? Thanks...... | anley
23/11/2018 12:55 | stepone68 LOL. They are suppose to emit a sound so pedestrains can hear them, although on some early models that is not the case or you can switch the sound off. At least in an electric car you can speak with passengers in the back. Dead silent! Well I think acceleration is fun. The torque in an electric car is fantastic. Worth a test drive. Better choice these days. hyundai koda electric has good range. A secondhand 30kWh Nissan Leaf with a real range of about 110 miles (good for most commutes) I think can be got for just £8k now. | hyper al |
