Looks like the AMs destination has changed. After Rotterdam, it will be headed to Blackpool. It's official. This is part of the announcement sent to my email box by iii today.

This morning we received a very brief operational update from Hurricane Energy.

The company is currently moving the Aoka Mizu FPSO (floating production storage and offloading) vessel from Dubai to Rotterdam, with its final destination set to be Lancashire (Q4).

It wasn't a one off typo, Lancashire is repeated further down in the article. The mind boggles! It's a wonder they didn't include a photograph of Blackpool tower, thinking it was an oil rig.

"Yet oil company valuations did not fully reflect unsanctioned projects and ignored exploration, meaning the sector trades at 0.75 times tangible assets, Stifel said. That created an opportunity ahead of drill results in the coming months from prospects such as Hurricane Energy’s Lancaster project, Faroe Petroleum’s E&A portfolio and Serica Energy’s Rhum field, it said".

Just checked my performance since 11 Nov 2016. Up over 37% excluding about 7% draw-down, so would have been more like 44%.

Well done Steve, you could probably crack open a bottle of this:

I agree, T. I've been unitising mine for quite a while. It makes it much easier to track what's happening performance wise when you pay money in and out over time.

I recently decided to unitise my portfolio in order to get/keep a better handle on performance. Having paid off a mortgage in recent years and spent quite a lot on home improvements and big holidays it has been very difficult see through all that and get a handle on the underlying investment performance.

Surprisingly easy/quick to unitise and really very informative. Starting with a unit value of £1 just 2 years ago, I peaked at £1-15 and am now down to £1-05 (last time I looked a few days ago).

It's made my performance or lack thereof much more transparent. I recommend it.

22% up here for me now, I'll crack open the ginger wine later ...despite the drop which doesn't concern me as I'm in for the longer term :)

When looking on Sunday lunchtime for a brief period a helicopter was around the AM. Thought it was unusual bur possibly for the crew change or perhaps spares. Never really gave it much thought after this but the RNS has brought it to mind. Still perhaps a buying opportunity as many speculators with short term goals will bail out. There are echoes of Edinburgh oil and Gas in the way the share price has fluctuated. They were involved with Buzzard and went from approx 13p to 130 then an open offer then down to the nineties then taken out at 314p. Good luck to all LTH

Interesting fall this morning on the RNS.

But looking at the fall now against other oilers it doesn’t feel that we were market down as much as many others.

Perhaps the tide has turned a little?

I get the feeling that someone might have known about the RNS issue ahead of time too, but maybe that’s just paranoia on my part?

I would be quite happy to be slowly spiralling downwards. The fact that I'm not is worthy of celebration. Is it time to open a bottle of port?

Yes!

Your post spurred me to look at how I've done over the past 2 years. Much to my surprise I'm up 10%, before withdrawals. Better than I had expected, given that my portfolio seems to have entered a bit of a slump the past 6 months. Perhaps I'll have a port tonight.

...I suppose the way you view it depends on how well the rest of your portfolio is performing. Mine is currently back to where it was two years ago.

I'm doing a little better than that. I'm showing a 5% return over the past 2 years. However, having retired I am in draw down, and have spent about 5%, so in cash terms I'm about level with my position of 2 years ago

Level pegging after the recent thumping is not too shabby. I've got a finite life expectancy so I do not need to maintain financial altitude in perpetuity. I would be quite happy to be slowly spiralling downwards. The fact that I'm not is worthy of celebration. Is it time to open a bottle of port?

I am still sticking to my 40p buying level BUT I have dipped in at 41.6 this morning.

I am now bullish on oil and gas. What is happening is very political ...........smaller stock piles will eventually take the price back up towards the $75+ level and a share price of over 55p by early next year.

Problem is this that this share has become a real punters haven - penny ot two turn and you either win or loose!!!

Stick to the proper investment rules.

No one does that LOL

It never ceases to amaze e how many people expect their shares to be valued on fundamentals and blue sky when the general market/sector is taking a hammering and fear and panic are stalking the market!!!

Tournesol.

My point was that the MMs would take advantage of the news to drop the price - and they did.

I agree that the RNS was trivial and I have been amazed at how well every aspect of the EPS has gone to date.

As for the 3% fall, it isn't much but when it happens almost daily resulting in a 30% fall since the recent high, then it causes me concern. I suppose the way you view it depends on how well the rest of your portfolio is performing. Mine is currently back to where it was two years ago. £20k down.

Well it has now tested below 40p and oil has dropped a record 10 days in a row so it may well test 35p with shorting elements too. My 6 purchases have been between 44p & 57p so I am hurting to an extent I never thought possible. I'll consider selling out totally in the next hour and repurchasing post-Rotterdam.
