24/1/2014 07:43 | Awfully managed business Writing was on the wall Question now is could this go belly up ? | spob
21/8/2013 19:39 | Modelzone will cost them the stated 200k plus four million in sales across the various brands , of course some of that will go elsewhere , but many outlets will have positioned themselves to sell other brands being as they were not being offered sale or return terms. | holts
27/6/2013 21:11 | 27 June 2013 Statement Re: Modelzone (part) Hornby has a wide, multi-channel distribution platform, which it is continuing to broaden. In the UK, Hornby supplies over 700 independent model shops, national retail chains as well as selling direct to consumers via its online platform. This forgets to mention that they have been busy Alienating their independent suppliers , I recall talking to their sales manager a couple of years ago about modelzone and how long it would be before they went belly up. | holts
26/6/2013 15:58 | splendid , perhaps Hornby who have cosied up to modelzone to the detriment of their existing customers, will maybe realise who their more reliable outlets are with the news of administration for said company. | simon corkswill

03/4/2013 20:07 | I have developed the above into a letter to the chairman and sent it Roger Canham Chairman Hornby Dear Mr Canham This started out as a comment on the ADVFN market board I'm among many who have placed orders for the BR blue Tornado, which was promised to be available by now. But it isn't This makes me wonder whether Hornby will get the P2 out usefully ahead of Christmans 2013 It strikes me that Hornby is losing its way. Decisions like not glazing the windows of the fancier version of Tornado is a serious mistake in my opinion and an indication that management needs its collective head looking at. That said, given that there is a board shakeout under way, perhaps there will be an "awakening". Another retrograde step is integral moulded buffers, especially given how cheap and nasty and easily broken the apparently smartly engineered new models are. Cheap and nasty really is the expression that comes to mind You as chairman should be concerned, deeply concerned. Go back to the 1960s and 70s, model car makers like Corgi and, reluctantly, Dinky Toys, started to glaze the windows of their product ... a huge step forward. I remember; I was there. It was a brilliant move and now you're winding the clock back; risking a cheapening of products that Hornby will ... mark my words ... will come to regret. I suspect you know exactly what I mean as you are not that many years younger than I am. Imagine if a leading model car manufacturer today was to drop glazing from the windows of its products. So Hornby management, you really need to tread very, very carefully. Don't spoil the ship for a ha'porth of tar, as the saying goes. I have a few of your recent products and Great Northern and the A4 are superb examples. But the blue Tornado, the higher spec version of which I have on order via Rails of Sheffield ... the Gresley P2 also ... are shaping up to become a let-down; a disappointment. Indeed, now that Bachmann are attempting to trump you with a BR blue variant of its Peppercorn machine, I am minded to cancel the Hornby Tornado and switch. This note is penned out of concern for a UK company that has in recent years made terrific headway. Don't lose the plot | idleduck
03/4/2013 19:07 | Bachmann do seem to be making the better models , sadly for Hornby IMHO | ignoble

12/3/2013 11:52 | to late . Do you suppose there is another profits warning in the pipeline! | holts
12/2/2013 08:27 | Snat , I simply note what's happening as a warning , for trading purposes they have bounced from 60 and a well timed purchase will have made some money which is the point of investing . I am simply disappointed at the very questionable decisions the company has made leading us to where we are now and that after all these years they never seem to learn from their mistakes. | holts
11/2/2013 19:13 | I'm no chart expert but it looks to me like the gap has been filled and we are near to a breakout. | gerhux
11/2/2013 18:32 | keep doing what youre doing and the shares keep flying | snatander

08/2/2013 16:53 | Together with their over pricing it just drives sales to bachmamn , own goal really. | holts
08/2/2013 16:02 | Naughty ....bet Bachmann would not do such a thing Reading Model Railway Mag's over the years , Bachmann have a superb reputation. Had a strange experience with Bachmann some years ago when I had a "bad" loco. Bachmann were wonderful with their customer service ...replaced without question. Even explained that having the models stored on the docks in China in contaiiners where temperatures hit 130 and then temperatures drop off hugely at night or when the goods are at the sea , printed circuits can "pop" or solder can do like wise. That obviously causes problems Respected Bachmann for their honesty (N gauge ) | ignoble
