30/1/2013 11:35 | Hi, For anyone interested, I commented on Hornby's IMS on my Blog today: Cheers, Paul. | paulypilot
30/1/2013 09:43 | I have my doubts Parvez. Hornby belongs to a bygone era in my view. How many people have train sets and the whole shebang set up in their lofts these days? Most people are on their PSP's, Xbox,Ipads. Personally believe the decline will continue, sadly. Additionally, if you're interested in train sets, why would you buy Hornby products when you can make your own "Cyber train set up" here....Relatively hassle free and takes up no space! And no ongoing maintenance of hardware. | fangorn2
30/1/2013 08:10 | interesting statement today and i think we are now at a turning point - looking good reading between the lines... | parvez
28/1/2013 20:41 | I think that is very sad that preserved railways can no longer run Thomas Days. Ruddy Greed again | ignoble
23/1/2013 15:03 | aye its rising all the way from 1.45 this time last year. | holts
23/1/2013 14:56 | And the share price rises!!! Trend is ones friend.... | druinsky
23/1/2013 11:35 | nothing to do with thomas druinsky , indeed there is nothing new of thomas in this years range , likely detrimental it being with Mattel now as they will reckon on trying to charge more for license , in fact a number of preserved railways are dropping their thomas days as new owners asking too much for license. As for Hornby the wheels are coming off ! | holts
23/1/2013 10:31 | Nice buys coming in ahead of Thomas Tank launch | druinsky
22/1/2013 18:26 | Always the same when a Company puts profit before people (customers) IMHO | ignoble
22/1/2013 17:08 | Hornby are now alienating their independent retailers at a time when they desperately need them . The company is being run by people who have no idea about the business they are in , they think they know , but the decisions taken indicate otherwise. You have directors who think they are a Mattel type company rather than realising they are a niche company with a finite size , the Olympic stupidity being one classic example of this mindset . Their solution to increasing costs from China , reduce the trade discount , never mind finding out why they are being mugged by the chinese , never mind looking at their operating costs , lets push our customers towards our competitors , who already offer better terms . Another fine example of a British brand being wrecked , again ! | simon corkswill
21/1/2013 13:44 | Thomas the Tank Engine will undergo a major rebranding in 2013 in an attempt to get children in Asia and Latin America on board. Following its $680 million acquisition last year, toy giant Mattel plans to overhaul Thomas the Tank Engine to bring the cheery locomotive and his friends in-line with its lucrative Hot Wheels and Barbie brands. The New York Times reports that, although Thomas' retail sales currently bring in around $1 billion every year, Barbie brings in double that, while Hot Wheels is also a better seller in toy shops. David Allmark, executive vice president of Mattel's Fisher-Price brands said: "It's been a brand that has been pretty bereft of investment... We really believe that we can grow this on a worldwide basis, particularly in Latin America and Asia." The marketing push will see a range of new toys created, including an expanded and enhanced collection of wooden trains, and the release of a one-hour, straight-to-DVD film entitled 'King of the Railway'. OMG!!! It figures!!! | druinsky
21/1/2013 13:41 | Matell bought Thomas the Tank Would make sense for then to have this imho dyor, etc | druinsky
21/1/2013 13:38 | Snat I think your right about a bid one day, but that would be an amazingly fast turnaround if it came this year. Who knows eh. | wasteman2004
21/1/2013 09:06 | must be a bid coming soon? | snatander

Initial target is 90p, and be keeping a keen eye on any further buys on volume. Other faves at the mo are CCVU and AGA | wasteman2004

28/12/2012 21:55 | Which set and from where ? it makes a difference as the bulk sellers insist on a price point and the sets are produced to suit but made to look like the full spec set , the starter sets particularly are rubbish , rather short sighted but no one listens. | holts
27/12/2012 16:44 | posted by Illuminati1 on RMP bulletin board 26.12.12 Somalia: Interior & National Security Minister Abdikarim Hussein Guled issues 100 day ultimatum for Al-Shabaab fighters to surrender | lorn4 |
