It's also only fair to say that we could be in an early stage bear market, if so any bounces may be transitory and about everything gets cheaper.

That's exactly what I'm thinking, Asia bounces first. Had some AAIF this morning.

Cases in China and South Korea appear to be slowing, it's the SK numbers that may be more accurate?.

Call me a fool, but i took 3,000 @ 299p this morning. China might well bounce back before Europe and the US because their populations respect authority and pulled together. Unlike the west where they are rioting over bogroll.

I'm not disappearing, if included in that. There have been some
fantastic trading opportunities here and in other Asian focused investment trusts over the last 2 week.
It's European markets that are now squarely in the firing line.

As I've opined elsewhere - the serious effects of the virus have hardly started, and yet all caution has been abandoned! Amazing...

Sold a few this morning and some SOI bought last week.

I'm hoping for some more volatility.

Prefer to say thinking positive lolReally think they will factor it in and move on though once they get an idea what the likely impact will be they will find something else to obsess on.

Yes good luck EI sure you will be ok.

Am happy with my purchase never expect to get the bottom if it’s still losing money in a year then fair enough might be a mistake but time will tell.

As part of my investing I do "what if" type projections where I calculate what my investments might be worth in the event of a crash/big fall these include falls to below ftse 500 or even 3500,if I can't stand the pain of those levels and the likely results on my portfolio then I move money out of the markets.

All part of the game.

Big rally into the close in the us probably shorts closing buy hey ho happy weekend all.

Others on here have been very much more correct in their assessments than I have been, hats off to them! but I do now think that this share price reaction has been majorly overdone, in so far as HFEL and its underlying positions is concerned. Next week may prove me wrong, yet again!

Thanks Aleman. If in good health then to be fair might not give it a second thought.

Down the pub last night, everyone seemed unhappy with the growing containment/restrictions and thought we should just let it run its course. It was a quiz night and they were mostly retired. I'd decribe several as distinctly unfit or unhealthy (overweight and chronic conditions). If they just want to carry on as normal, I presume the young will, too.

Good luck avoiding it, EI.

2 choices. Martial law worldwide. No travel. No socializing. Food rationed. For many years, until the virus dies out somehow. or choice 2, just let it run riot, hope we all catch it soon and get over it like a flu and get on with the art of living, loving and dying in freedom. I favor the 2nd choice!

I'm self isolating as have asthma and not sure I would survive pneumonia.
A chest cold for me can mean a visit to A&E, unfortunately.
So the next couple of months are going to be an absolute joy, Not.
May still contract the virus through my better half, but doing whatever
I can to avoid it.

It feels like we are watching some disaster movie unfolding, but it's real life!, hey no.

It depends on your timeframe, risk tolerance and outlook.

As mentioned many times on the SHA board I have been largely in cash
since early last June, too cautious on markets. So very much welcome
current downside and volatility. It's what I've been waiting for. And would like further equity falls.

Apologies to anyone who may be margined long!.

Plenty of time for bargains, I cannot believe people were buying into this recently. Mental.
