Edging up.

With the inclusion to the 250 index happening at more or less the same time as the Interim results on September 20th, I would have thought there would be strong institutional buying ahead of both events. Not long to wait.

GVC, risen from 612p to 702p in 28 days, worth reflecting on.

The Singapore office purchase is the reason.

I don't know about that, but we can't hold above 700p it seems, not yet!

Just checked the market caps of GVC and WMH, £2.055 billion and £2.724 billion respectively. Nearly a marriage of equals, and if we keep rising and Hills falling, it soon will be!

Woodhawk / Mylands

We are all on the same wave length, and it will happen.

I mentioned similar re shops the other week.

I think the unofficial deal was struck with the wonderful
deal at sbt as you mentioned.

Straight onto the ftse 100, boom 1000p.

I think the fund managers will follow us as we know what they
want to.

Very off topic.

I topped up on my fccn yesterday, good UK retail figures and disposal
income.

With Henderson 'fired' and an interim CEO in charge, Hills could do no better than agreeing to a 'merger' with GVC, who they worked with before on the SBT takeover. They would then have the best person in the industry, our Kenny, to run the lot. Now that really would be a deal to beat all deals!

You can just imagine how much he would strip out of the overheads of such a Goliath in the gaming industry. The one negative are Hills shops but then maybe they could be offloaded to a management buyout with venture capital backing. Lots of finance around at nearly zero percent for such a deal. But then maybe there are others in the industry who would want such a large foothold into the UK gaming market.

Interesting theory, srpactive. But how much would they have to pay?

Maybe the market thinks wmh will attempt
to buy gvc and by 888 and Rank dropping
out, the possibility remains.

Actually looking at the situation, the only way WMH can survive
and grow in the online sector is by buying gvc, maybe the market
agrees with me and that is why gvc rose at the close when the
news was breaking.

The first RNS was from Rank at 16.12. Looks like the spike up in GVC around 3.30 pm was as a result of a leak and then the final move up took place after the RNS.

Can't see 888 remaining independent much longer with yet another abortive attempt to expand by acquisition/merger.

Looks like we are heading for the FTSE 250.

Any idea at what point the trackers start buying this ? is it once the stock is in the FTSE250 or would they be buying now in anticipation ?

Hi Invisage (blast from the heady past). Yep GVC's been my largest holding since the good old SBT days (big fan of Kenny). Not trading it (least not until 250 status) but a much safer "bet" than most. I love this sector (gambling infrastructure)you could do worse than have a peek & watch over at PTEC also. ;-)
