also the sale of the dorking property will reduce interest payment considerably or perhaps another property earning income will be purchased
think i mentioned this before that in years gone by ghe returned a huge amount of capital when it sold out of property
possible that might happen as well
£10 in cash in 5 yrs time would be nice

nett asset value in about a year could be around £10+ but if and when the speke property gets planning you can probably double that but that is before tax
but because of its investment trust i think different tax rules apply
in the current climate the mkt might take time to take in the potential size of this transaction

a lot bigger scheme ,looks like the whole area is included
now we know why there was interest from outside parties 18 months ago
and why those guys bought in at £7

so the whole co. is worth £37 mil and if they sell the property in Liverpool (subject to planning permission) they get £61 mil

mount burgess flying as well now
share has risen nearly 50% in the last month
most of the portfolio has risen strongly since the agm(a couple of stayed pretty static) but overall this should lead to a strong quarter

Yes NTV - portfolio up by around £1m in a couple of days, hope it continues.
Slight shame that these rises didn't happen before the end of June as then they would have been in the interims but I suppose you can't have it all.

as of 30/6/07
portfolio valuation has risen £2.5m since 31/12/06
or 51p per share
hopefully contracts will be signed soon for sale of land to a national housebuilder
this should give rise to a substanial increase in nett assets plus a large amount of cash when deal is completed
this will reduce borrowings considerably

Re SAL

They indicated in their recent results that they hope to announce a German and French deal in the near future, this will involve the signing of contracts with German and French mall owners and if they complete, will significantly increase the size of SAL's market.

They have already staffed up for the French contract and will have to do so for the German one, so probably no real impace on the second half figures. Next year though, if everything goes ahead, turnover and profit could easily double and likewise for the following year. That is not a pie in the sky type forecast but just looking at hard facts based on the size of the German and French deals.

The shares are very illiquid so the buys by those who have worked out what the deals could mean for the company has pushed the price up. I am as certain as I can be that no takeover/merger deal around and as the shares are tightly held witht the Board having 25% and Fred controlling one way or another 40%, it is unlikely to happen

I spoke at length to the company after the results came out and I have no plans to sell any of my SAL shares

Thanks for your feedback on the AGM NTV, have been following GHE (currently no holding) & WII for a while.

Decided to pick up a handful of WII recently, mainly due to SAL's rise (SAL is 17% of WII's £6.5m Mcap), but as you say the rise may be due to an overhang being cleared, perhaps WII/GHE have dumped most of their holding!

As to SAL, I've been thinking it has looked overbought (and overvalued!) for the last few weeks, but has continued to rise unabated, makes me wonder whether some form of Merger/Takeover activity is on the cards.

re land at dorking
my Q's to the board at last year agm were answered very vaguely but that may have been because of the problems they had at the time
they were answered much better this yr and the board was helpful
sal has proved a useful investment for ghe and is now valued around £3m assuming they have not sold any
what are your thoughts on sal currently as the share price has rocketed recently
TO?
or just excellent trading prospects?

Hi NTV - just to let you know you are not alone on this share.I have a large holding in Spaceandpeople and was intrigued as to who gresham were. Bought a small stake on Friday after looking at the Accounts on the website and the hard copy arrived this morning. I was going to look at the value of the investment portfolio but you seem to have beaten me to it.

Further back the thread you asked a question on the Dorking land, I have not yet read the whole read and assume you are aware of the comment in the Annual Report on the Dorking Land -maybe there are 2 pieces of land at Dorking. Anyway in case you did not spot it I have pasted it below

Our site in Vincent Lane, Dorking has been included in the Accounts based on existing use value of £2.9 million. However we have agreed in principle to sell this site to a leading residential development company, conditional on residential planning being obtained, for the sum of £8.2 million. A successful
planning application is expected to be obtained within two years.

Cheers
