"The Company is engaged in discussions with a number of carefully-selected potential development partners with games at various stages of development. Two partnerships have already been signed to date, including the agreement announced with Haemimont Games in June 2019. The Board continues to expect that the Frontier Publishing business will become a material contributor to the group in years to come, as more partnerships are agreed."

Perhaps the second partnership is not material?

brokenbuckles post 5637:
I agree your comment (and I'm a 5 year+ term view holder) about opacity.
It leads to a requirement for patience and that is no bad thing.
(And, luckily we're not caught up in a side-show of "patient capital" illiquidity from insti. holders).

However, the wording of a lot of Braben's announcements cast doubt rather than being clear about not wanting to disclose; which, contrary to the intent for "patience", leads to volatility in the short term.

(We knew about Haemimont. There was no need to tease on other publishers. A firm disclosure at a more appropriate time would have been better without a tease).

£175k and £178k trades gone through. One looks a buy and one a sell, however they could both just be worked buys at an agreed price as both are at 1188p.

Aside from our sore loser gamer on here, here are some headlines from sites about FDEV today -
"The long-awaited launch of Frontier Development’s (FDEV) zoo simulation title Planet Zoo finally arrived yesterday, and it appears to have been a success. The game was ranked number 1 on gaming platform Steam, sending shares in the Frontier up 3 per cent so far this morning. Alongside this, the group has signed the second partnership agreement for its Frontier Publishing initiative, through which it is forming external development partnerships to supplement its internal projects. Buy."
Investors Chronicle

"Frontier Developments PLC’s shares (LON:FDEV) powered up 3% to 1,154p as it launched its highly-anticipated video game Planet Zoo on PC.

Planet Zoo hit the number-one bestseller spot on gaming platform Steam ahead of today’s launch, as players rushed to experience in-game joys such as building lifelike habitats full of animals who “think, feel, and explore the world around them”.

The launch coincided with an announcement that its new publishing arm, which has already signed two partnerships with third party development partners to work on new games, is also discussing further partnerships, likely to be announced on Capital Markets Day next week."

I don't put much stock in Broker's views (though YH does when it suits him 😉)
but good to know Liberum and Shore Capital both re-iterate "Buy" with Liberum's target still 1800p

Back to the adults talking:

Liberum re-iterate buy, £18 target.

Break out confirmed above £11 now. Looking for a ride up to £13.50 - £14 before any major consolidation.

YH is one of the stranger posters on ADVFN, and let's face it, this website is barely a den of sanity. But from what I can see, he only posts on FDEV. It is deeply odd, as he doesn't appear to have a financial position here. All that bearishness to no end, it's a bit of a waste of a life.Shares are there to buy and sell (or even sell and buy) and make money. If you're not doing that, you're wasting your time. It is a bit weird.

Yup, that's one score to watch over the coming weeks, as it adds reviews from sites such as IGN which FDEV blocked before launch.

More immediate info is on hxxps://www.gamevizz.com/11816/# showing PZ score dropping 10% since launch.

Yay I wondered when YH would turn up! A quick look at Yank's posting history will give you an idea of his position here. Still haven't heard his entry and exit points for share price 😉

Games released in the last 90 days, ordered by metacritic user score.

To be honest, there have been a lot of links in this thread to numbers and information - enough that everyone can take a look themselves and make their own interpretation of them, good or bad.

Ref the plummeting Planet Zoo user review score, this compilation of First Impressions is enlightening hxxps://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/your-first-impressions.528036 .

The main problem seems to FDEV released the game complete with most of the 3000 bugs reported during beta.

FDEV needs to make a clear promise to address this else sadly PZ will likely nosedive even faster than FDEV's previous bugfest game release, JWE.

BB - quite so.
I'm a LTBH in BIDS ( aka a masochist for the moment! ) as well as FDEV.
Some businesses have to exercise restraint/discretion when partners are involved.

One of the reasons I own Frontier is the founder owns a huge amount of the company and he clearly understands the market and what makes a good video game. If he wants to be opaque about launches and relationships, because he believes it's in the long term interests of the company so be it. Just means we have less short term hype to feed on.

That’s possible, makw61, if it comes out on capital markets day.
Then they can stick to their “no price sensitive info” pledge.
Anyway, I hope someone asks the question.

That was my reaction also. Why not just say "we've signed a second publishing partnership with xyz co"? Why be so vague? I mean the deal is signed so why the secrecy? Maybe it will come out during the capital markets day?

As usual the announcement isn’t clear. Or not to me.
I thought Heamimont was the first publishing partnership to be signed up (per announcements on 11 June 2019). So who is the second partnership with?

Agreed, bb, i think the market wants to see that critical mass of games / track record before it will value the company fully. Positive (although typically opaque of course) announcement on Publishing initiative this morning. I like the phrase material contribution, plus i think the market sees publishing as low risk which should be good for valuation.

I think the market is always looking for the 'next game'. As Frontier dont have a fully opaque development pipeline announced the market always gets nervous and it turns investors away. However, I think we are nearly at the stage where the company has enough scale / track-record and a large enough back catalogue for this not to become an issue anymore. Investors will start to trust this company to continue to make good games that sells even if they dont know what they are.

As per Endion - ditto, I've also played it and am very pleased with game & reception.

I have a hunch(hope!) that the wider market has seen it as a "boring zoo game = low sales" but will now wake up to reality that it will perform well. Perhaps the opposite of JWE which was "big film license = mega sales" in run up to launch.

Not going to get a chance to try the game myself this evening ironically. At least I participated in the beta so have a good idea what it is like and have been reading the community reaction today to the main release. Not perfect yet but very happy with how the game seems to be and how the reaction has been.
