Current player count just passed 28.5k. Up around an extra 200 every few mins! :)
A really strong performance. Should break 30k shortly.

Steam - "95% of the 96 user reviews for this game are positive".

20332 players, at the moment, from hxxps://steamdb.info/app/703080/graphs/ . For comparison JWE peaked at 60296 on launch day (on Steam) - hxxps://steamdb.info/app/648350/graphs/ . Let's see and compare how high Planet Zoo gets this evening.

I know, as an investor here, I suffer from confirmation bias but this first paragraph from the Rock Paper Shotgun review seems to be a nice summary.

"Planet Zoo is a game where you can build your own zoo. It’s buggy, intermittently opaque, frequently saccharine, and – barring an eleventh hour miracle – it’s my undisputed game of the year. Because here’s the thing: it’s a game where you can build your own zoo. And by thunder, it delivers on that promise."

Topped up just now, looks like £11 taken and seems strong, should hold and move further north. We'll see.

There will likely be an Antarctic/Arctic expansion with the penguins. Also, they are semi aquatic. I don't see many of those animals in the game yet either, like seals or sea lions etc. These are common animals in zoos so will no doubt arrive at a later date.

Yes, the reviews are excellent. No unexpected bad surprises. The PC Gamer reviewer obviously hasn't noticed the pause button. :-) Still some glitches (although I assume that today's release version will be more up to date than the reviewed version), but sounds like FDEV have fixed the majority of them from beta. Delighted that FDEV seem to have nailed the management side compared to JWE and PC, I would rather it be described as difficult rather than shallow. Only disappointing thing to me is no penguins. :-( However, that'll be for DLC no doubt. :-)

Fantastic reviews so far! Lowest is PC gamer with 75%. Only draw back Ive read about is the difficulty level and time it takes to really learn the game mechanics. Thats a bonus in my eyes, especially considering the complaints that JWE and PC were too shallow from a management side.

Number 1 and 2 in Germany at the moment. Football Manager is in a beta, like Planet Zoo was a month ago, so is currently available to download and play. I would expect Planet Zoo will also be at 1 and 2 in the UK once it is launched.

I've done similar rough calculations and come to guesstimates like you nimbo and have come to similar conclusions (YouTube, Steam followers etc). JWE took 5 weeks to reach 1 million, Planet Coaster took 8 months. If Planet Zoo reached 1 million before Christmas that would be amazing for FDEV I think (taking into account it's only on PC for now). All just speculation for now, looking forward to this evening. :-)

Interestingly, Planet Zoo is still 2nd and 3rd in UK steam charts, but 1st and 2nd in Global steam charts. Indicates a strong international audience!

I believe it is deluxe and standard version. Though both are available from the same page, it still likely creates two entries in the charts for both.

The reason why there are 2 planet zoos on steam?

Dan Stapleton is known for reviewing and liking FPS and RPG games, not sim games. He doesn’t get them, nor does he like them. Also, his reviews for numerous games have been devisive in the past to say the least. There are always two sides to every story.

I saw that, not sure what to make of it really. Suspect there are two sides to the story.

Probably not the best way to handle their PR.

SP seems to be consolidating in a tightening wedge too. Could see a breakout once done above the current resistance line.

Look at ubisoft - underlines why the model for planet zoo of a beta period is a good idea!
