03/6/2020 16:29 | Definitely a DLC to Elite Dangerous @Shanklin. Click the link to the Steam Wishlist in the forum thread for clarity. They've been working in it for 2 years at this stage so it's going to be game changing for sure but still a paid DLC/Expansion to Elite Dangerous rather than a separate game. | fledgling1nvestor

01/6/2020 08:46 | From today's Times... Games industry booms amid lockdown - ... David Braben, chief executive of Frontier Developments, said games had helped players to preserve their friendships and meet new people during this period of enforced isolation. “Games can be very social — people are building up friendships and finding new ways of spending their time,” said Mr Braben, 56, who founded the firm in Cambridge in 1994. “Psychological Like players, investors too have sought refuge in video games. The sector has been a rare bright spot on Covid-scarred stock markets. Nintendo’s market value has climbed about 14 per cent to £45 billion since the start of the year, with Activision Blizzard, the American giant behind the Call of Duty franchise and smartphone game Candy Crush Saga, up 18 per cent to £58 billion. Smaller UK-listed developers have fared even better. Shares in Frontier Developments, which publishes Elite Dangerous and Jurassic World Evolution, and Team17, which develops the Worms franchise, have surged by more than 50 per cent. The video games sector is already the largest segment of the entertainment industry, so investors are gambling that the developers, publishers and console makers will continue to prosper after lockdown restrictions are eased. According to forecasts from Newzoo, a research group, games companies will increase their revenues by 9 per cent to $159 billion this year. The question is whether consumers will spend as much time playing Fortnite or Roblox when they are free to pursue other leisure activities. Mr Braben believes they will. “If people form groups online it’s because they have common interests and I expect that to survive after lockdown ends,” he said. The evidence from China suggests that gamers may spend less time in front of screens when they’re allowed outdoors, according to Piers Harding-Rolls, a games expert at Ampere Analysis. “Things will inevitably return to some level of normality,” he said... | speedsgh
01/6/2020 08:33 | Looking very good hot sector and ps5 news this week | nw99
01/6/2020 07:37 | Cracking stock flagged up on MarketScreener.com, well worth doing the lengthy research. Another gaming stock but from my research I find its not just kids who are buying and playing but there dads as well LOL. Cant blame them when no sport on TV. Looks to have plenty of new games coming out in the next few years as well. Its certainly not cheap, but expensive for a good reason, its going forward potential. FDEV Frontier Developments. 29/5/2020 12:08 | Building a floor at £20'ish or waiting to pop? Next week will tell before TU on 8 June. | sogoesit
23/5/2020 23:55 | As yet we also have no idea how this will morph into fully interactive immersive media. There's still a division between on demand video entertainment and gaming. The gap will close and the two merge with massive new opportunities opening. Mind boggling. | p1nkfish
23/5/2020 22:51 | This is a multi billion pound company in the making. Brabben has always been a bit of a visionary - but the point is we are now seeing a vision of the future being transferred in to clear execution which is leading to shareholder returns. A clear inflection point here now - it’s great stuff. | largemerlot
23/5/2020 22:29 | Pinkfish Yes, I have more or less the same figures as you, and 32p EPS. I'm now up 6x since buying 3 years ago....just annoying that I didnt buy more and sold a third around £10!! Still, not planning to sell this for at least couple years | adamb1978
21/5/2020 07:54 | "Materially ahead is usually code for at least a 10% beat to give profits of £14.6m." Sounds plausible. | fledgling1nvestor |
