Glad to hear things are going well B.B. - you trade virtually all of my SIPP stocks now as you probably know - I tend to leave them alone now to do their own thing as I've moved to the dark side Forex Trading

Chartsworth,

I use a system based on turns suggested by trendline apexes. This is combined with simple TA, such as chart patterns, support and resistance levels etc.

See here for further info,

I had a large portion of my p/f in here and needed the capital back for other trades planned for later in the week. I have traded this stock like there is no tomorrow, and will be back soon.

nimbo, Still in WAND which is now my biggest holding. I like the current phase of consolidation and base building. It resists my attempts to predict turns in the price.

Who knows what the share price is going to do. It did pull back from the last two big spikes (Tencent investment and JWE announcement) before eventually spiking up again to new highs - and could well do now - but we'll see. However, in 3 weeks JWE is released and then we might hear some sales figures and also an announcement of the next franchise. I'm very optimistic we'll be quite a bit higher in a few months. Personally trading in and out of a share always ends up badly for me so I have just held on tight to my FDEV shares through the ups and downs. I will review where we're at over the summer, I'll probably offload some once the sales of JWE and the new franchise is clearer - it's just the tax man is rubbing his hands in glee and sadly I didn't put my FDEV investment in an ISA. :-(

Thanks bamboo. I'll be holding everything this time. We're at number 4 in UK top of the pops and 15 in global bestsellers : )

By the way does your view on wand remain the same? See you over there if anything to add.

I have seen no real reason for any turn around on this. There was a lot of solid buying at 1700 today, with minimal sells in comparison. I couldnt say why the price dropped at the end of the day, maybe just ran out of buyers at 1700 for the day. There were no large sells to trigger it and people were still buying at 1700, but then the market seems to defy explainations many a time. I wouldnt hedge your bets on trying to profit out of a fall back, could be MMs looking to shake off weak investors and you'll end up getting burned.

Hi Bamboo, if you don't mind explaining, I'd be interested to understand your rationale a bit better, eg is this around a particular chart event etc?Completely understand if you have better things to do ?

Nimbo, you're very welcome; i bought into Paradox once i realised i'd racked up 2k hours on hoi4! They have a very stable model as you know, with long-lived franchises and plenty of dlc. None of which is lost on Braben and the team i am sure. I don't think though that any of the paradox games have the blockbuster potential of JWE. ATB

Ahh i didnt know that you are able to use steam in china maybe its only possible via a vpn and is technically frowned upon. Getting an official release through a chinese company would be a different prospect though i believe, leading to much higher sales figures.

You could be right regarding the Universal IP but they could have gotten both the licenses at the same time as part of the same deal. By that same point you could argue that any other film producer would want to see how JWE pans out before granting permission also, and yet they have it.

Hi endion, I’m not sure what the exact rules are but there are many western games available in china through Steam. In dec 2017 chat etc was censured but plenty of games are available, planet coaster for one! I think it’s just controversial stuff (normally as frowned on from a content or political perspective) which is blocked and I think you need permission etc.

Makw61 - thanks for your ideas, id love it to be Star Wars out of those mentioned. A quality stars wars game would sell 10 mil +. EA Sports 2 versions are always panned and always sell well anyway due to the power of the Star Wars franchise. However I would be surprised if the 2019 release was another universal IP based game simply because it seems to make sense if you were Universal to see what FDEV produced before awarding another (would love to be wrong though). I wouldn't be at all surprised if the 2020 game, (we can be certain it is AAA due to the job description posted here) is based on Universal IP. Im looking forward to finding out the next title either way.

Briefly ref sales, momentum seems good. Amazon USA bestsellers for playstation is now at 31 having spend ages in the 50,s. Amazon Germany has spent most of the weekend at 8-10. UK at 18 or so. Steam we've been in UK top 10 all weekend and Global just outside of top 25. (Steam calculates the bestsellers chart on total value made by a game in a period (24 hours?) I think. So when games come on sale they always swamp the top 25 - this weekend has seen the paradox sale so they've been hogging the limelight).

Not sure if links are allowed but i'll try. Some here may have read this slightly old but still relevant article on Tencent. Gives good background on who/what they are and their power within the gaming industry.

It is quite hard to think what kind of game they would go for, JWE is such a good fit with their expertise and so its difficult to think away from that.

Not sure how much has been mentioned regarding the Tencent investment, but Tencent are huuuuuuuge in China. They are the Steam of china, except bigger. Chinese regulations only allow software to released through a chinese company and cannot publish direct to market. So basically Tencent is the only avenue to publishing in China. They have only released overwatch, rocket league and players unknown battlegrounds so far so Frontier have done very well to position themselves to be one of the first major western devs to have access to the Chinese market. That has the potential to increase income by at least 100% given to market size of china. A very exciting prospect!

Hi Endion, i've been spending a lot of time myself speculating what might be next for Frontier. It's difficult from the outside to tell what licences are available; for example EA have the Star Wars battlefront series, but it's impossible to tell if that covers the whole SW universe or whether the more recent films might be available?

Similarly, Fantastic Beasts may be available although the original HP series is not.

I've speculated previously on Bourne - mainly because it is a license belonging to Universal plus Frontier developed a similar game for a third party called The Outsider which was never released. Not sure though that shooters are really their thing tbh. Fast and furious is another big Universal franchise but again not sure if that's their thing?

More recently i've been wondering about Frank Herbert's Dune series. Denis Villenueve (Blade Runner 2049 etc) is said to be working on two films although not sure whether the release dates work for this as i assume the next game will be released in 2019? There were some pretty good Dune games back in the day, which were RTS games (God emperor of dune etc), but i'm guessing those licences may have expired and now be available. I think it would be a nice franchise from an animation point of view (sandworms, guild navigators etc) but who knows!

They do have a system where you can alter DNA to make a dino more ferocious, stronger, more docile etc by filling in the gaps in DNA with different current earth species, as they did in JP with frogs.

Cross breeding however will be limited to pre-provided cross-breeds i believe, like yoi said the logistics of being able to merge *any* two dinos together would be staggering. It would have to mould looks and behaviours. Imagine trying to cross a t-rex with a brachiasaurus!

I want to know if the dinos will adapt to breed like they did in JP.

Maybe the equivalent would be cross breeding the animals? It looks as if lots of DNA is required - why not allow those to blend? That would presume of course that the DNA means something, which I imagine is unlikely.

Edit - for it to work the DNA stands would literally have to represent traits of the animals. This seems fiendishly complicated.

Hi all, First post here but bought in at 650p last year.

Massive gamer myself, have followed Frontier since the beginning and still play Planet Coaster every week. They are a great Dev team, constantly providing both free, seasonal and paid DLC content for all their games.

Only one broker forecast left to smash through, Finncap's 1700, has the potential to do that easily next week.

I've been trying to figure out what the next franchise could be. The only thing I have been able to come up with is Star Wars. It's big right now. It would tie in to their Elite Dangerous experience. Not sure what form the game would take but it's a possibility.

Regarding JWE, that's great that the pre-sales are doing so well, I have a copy already myself! I wonder if they will ever add customizable building materials/set pieces like in PC as it is the *main* draw in keeping players going back to it. You can literally create anything out of the in-game objects, some of the creations are insane. I understand they are focusing on otehr areas of gameplay with JWE, but imagine the customization options of PC within JWE, that would be very exciting.

That's great news. The sandbox mode will increase the longevity of the game and I think will pull in many more people to buy the game.

2 important bits of info this eve to keep purchasers happy - the fallen kingdom DLC is confirmed and will be free. Should generate some excitement around the film. And you will unlock an island where it will be a sandbox mode - i.e. unlimited funds and large play area to do what you want...you'll just have to play to unlock it. All of this should prove popular with customers.

Good weekend all.

Expensive divorce!

Liberium are the fun police here, and are keeping the price increases orderly. Steady increase my favourite anyway as opposed to wild swings.
