Hmmm... well, Grauniads may not like Dinosaurs but right now there is a massive presentation about Dinosaurs in the Hong Kong IFC mall. There’s going to be some kind of presentation... lots of press etc. Not many kids ‘tho.

Level 2 is more one sided for selling this morning. There isn't massive volume (25k traded). I think its just one of those days. There are mm's on the buy side at 1700 and 1680. On the sell side they are all at 1800. I'll let you know if anything changes. Looks like some of the weaker pi's being cleared out which is often the norm I guess.

I've just had a scoot around the reviews for the film and I would agree with nimbo, there are many reviews of the film which are good - to me it does seem that it is the superficial reviews (newspaper journalists rather than film journalists) that are negative.

I've also had a look around at the game forums. As well as the known excitement there is also some unhappiness with some things seen in videos of the game - in particular dinosaur/people AI and customisation of the parks (benches, bins and the like) - which is a shame although I'm sure FDEV which address these things down the line. Then again, I subscribe to the theory that it is when people aren't complaining about your game that you should be worried as that means they don't care.

There is little correlation between review score and revenue for entertainment that is already well known. Its why there are so many sequels / comicbook adaptations and the like in films and games.

The film will do well just because it has Jurassic in the title, regardless of disappointing reviews. Fortunately the game should be fairly independent of the film's success or not anyway as it is based on the whole Jurassic franchise rather than just this film. 6 days to go to release, number 3 and number 20 in the UK Steam Top Seller chart - that says it all.

Its important to be balanced. Paper journo's love panning a big movie (especially the guardian!)...it will still do over $1 billion at box office. Some reviews are good to v good and rotten tomatoes score is 69%.

With regards to JWE the film is free advertising - the game pays homage to the whole film franchise including the the lost world - hence sorna is set up like the lost world. Most of the game is based on the last movie Jurassic World. In fact the only part from fallen kingdom is a free DLC pack out alongside the launch of the film in the US...FREE!

Like steam sales in both UK and Globally, Amazon sales are showing a very healthy trend UP! 23 in USA on playstation, 37 xbox. No 8 in Germany on PS4 and XBOX. UK is 9 and 14.

I believe the success of the game will be fairly independent of the review success of the movie. The point of the game is that you tell your own story. Its not a fps based on Fallen Kingdom which would be hit very badly by poor reviews. I think that JWE will stack up well regardless.

Interesting early reviews - average rating 7.9 vs 7 for Jurassic World, only weakness seems people either like or they don't but that's probably a good thing compared to everyone thinking it's 'ok' - I would gather it's people that love it that will buy the game and I bet people probably will have very defined ideas of what they're expecting from the film.
