Hey Firtash, spotted this on the BBC website on Friday, highlighting one aspect of corruption in Ukraine. Ukraine is officially ranked second most corrupt country in Europe, only slightly behind Russia. Yes I do dip into the Euromaidan press, Kyiv Post and NewsNow, highlighting Ukraine or Ferrexpo specifically for news items. Https://www.newsnow.co.uk/h/World+News/Europe/Eastern+Europe/Ukraine Also, of course, Concorde Capital Https://concorde.ua/ which is usually quick off the mark for news. There are a few other online journals like Ukrainian Metal, Ukrainian Journal and The Ukrainian Week, which occasionally have something worth reading but I don't rate them as highly. BB

Given the tow items of good news this week, on top of it being dividend week, I now expect the share to slide, as often happens in the strange world of the stock market. Somebody already said it. Sell on good news as the price will inevitably drop. BB

I really wasn't expecting that!?! Obviously this has no bearing on the previous court ruling that Zhevago should pay out $57 million to the NBU. That ruling was final and therefore still stands. But at least he can theoretically travel openly to Ukraine from his temporary base in London/Switzerland. without fear of arrest, unless he refuses to pay up and of course there are the coronavirus restrictions still in place. Https://concorde.ua/rs/daily/item_76320/ So, two pieces of good news this week. Where to next? BB

I can't imagine just how difficult it must be to try to make a serious difference to corruption in a country where it is ubiquitous, when you have been elected on an anti corruption stance, having worked in several such countries. My expectation, as it relates to Ferrexpo, is that the very best a corruption fighting president can do without too much immediate damage to workers and the economy, is take back sizeable chunks of money from the corrupt, and attempt continuous incremental change. So, I'm quite hopeful that our majority shareholder will be forced to sell down a chunk of his stake, which after perhaps a temporary blip should improve the standing and consequent share price of the company.

BB, you're spot on, total respect for your knowledge and opinion about Ukraine & big business. I picked the name firtashia as the name for a fictional country run by the likes of Firtash and/or corrupt big business, there’s a heck of a lot of them, and some more obvious than others. Would love to see him extradited from Vienna to the US and spill the beans - wonder what kind of damage he can do and to how many countries and institutions - but the cynic in me says he’ll never see the inside of a courtroom, either by fair means or foul. If you are a regular reader of EuroMaidan press I always enjoy the opinions of Vitaly Portnikov. He certainly does not embrace the naive enthusiasm for Ze common to the Ukrainian populace and “expert” Western commentators and think tanks alike.

Firtash, I note your username - are you Ukrainian? No relation to Dmytro Firtash I presume? Corruption in one form or another seems to be the norm in big business and where huge sums of money are involved. Maybe it's a natural human trait when one gets uber-rich and powerful. Putin and Trump opposite sides of the same coin. That's one coin that should be melted down. Glad to see Putin's popularity wane at a similar rate as Trump's. I do hope the Ukrainian populous will take no more sh*t from their politicians. They deserve better. The Maidan protests should not be in vain. BB

BB- no rebels in Donbas, only Russian army, mercenaries and local traitors. Why do you think they have lasted so long. The oligarchs hurt because of Poro & this war and they hope Ze can bring back the good times. With respect to Poro Ze, like Yanukovych, is pursuing selective justice. With respect to the war, the problem they’ve got is that Putin wants total capitulation & if Ze even hints at this then people will be out on the streets again.

yes Bellbottom, Putin is just an evil murderous mafia style thug and sad to see he is passing a law to enable him to be President until about 2035 . tragic for the country but unfortunately the masses are indoctrinated by State controlled media and admire him. FXPO doing really wel today with falling iron ore price on chart I look at with Ig markets . Can not figure it out !

Ongoing political machinations in Ukraine. With Russia wringing its hands with glee at the possibility of Poroshenko, former president, being prosecuted and potentially 'locked up.' Putin has never forgotten the events of The Maidan after which Poroshenko came to power. That's the same Russia that seized Crimea and is actively supporting rebels in the Donbas region as well as probably misrepresenting current covid deaths. Maybe slightly 'off topic' but gives an indication of the background to Zelenky's attempts to clamp down on corruption, which obviously involves the ex CEO of Ferrexpo and his fines and debts declared as payable under a final court decision recently. Http://euromaidanpress.com/2020/06/04/lock-him-up-political-repressions-en-vogue-again-as-zelenskyy-steps-up-campaign-against-poroshenko/ SP holding up well on ex-dividend day. BB

Thanks for your great insights and interesting that imf bailout is being released to Ukraine Tom ...maybe fxpo could benefitThis zhevago and his problems with current govt and his history with collapsed bank do not leave one feeling particularly confident and secure with ferrexpo share. The most recent share price collapse was quite nerve wracking....I do agree the share is well underpriced and as vale has problems and soaring iron ore price ....should make ferrexpo go much higher...do u think there is possibility of t/o if he were to sell his sharesLook at another pure iron ore play forte sue metals in oz...it's done over 150% this last year.....

Good news, but not a game changer in itself. A settlement between Dr Z and the Ukrainian authorities would be. Still, might be another blue day. Have lost count of how many consecutive up days we've had. And still about 150% to go until we reach a fair valuation. Edit - if we finish blue today it'll be 12 up days v 1 down day since 15th May.

Yes I have been thinking that this company was an attractive asset but who would be big enough to buy it? Iron ore is on a bull run because of Covid related supply issues from Brazil but if you look at the long term futures prices for iron ore it's on a downward trend (remaining strong this year but falling to mid 60's over next couple of years) most likely due to the volume that Australia can produce. Ferrexpo can still stay profitable long term with automation and increased volumes.

Well foxy, Most of us I think have been thinking this court case has had an adverse effect on the share price i.e slowing it down. So a bit of surprise to have this reaction today.Interesting point you raise about will this enable Zhevago liquidate. The company clearly stated there was never any intention to move the shares anyway. My reading is it the with the restriction lifted it actually opens the stock up to a takeout now. Zak the chartist says their is plenty of headroom on charts for this to hit 210 by end of month. Others say on comparable earnings and other ratings the fair value is £3.00. Depends how long you want to hold I suppose. Not seen a five year forecast which I would imagine would be much higher. this is the largest deposit of ore in Europe, with an estimate of 30 years supply. Don't if iron ore price dropped today, but forecast were set for $125 per ton. I really struggle to find negatives. The Ukraine is set to receive IMF aid of upto $5 billion starting with first payment tomorrow, curiously the same day as our dividend! If it drops to £1.80 again I won't be able to resist another top up. So bring it on MMs!
