09/11/2022 20:31 | Ouch. Surprised the share price didn't fall much lower. Borrowing at near enough 12 percent per annum is not going to end well. An airport only has value if there are airlines prepared to use it. 3 easyJet's locations won't cut the mustard. This is going to end up In The hands of Carlyle Group as there wont Be any other takers for the airport. Renewables will be sold to an infrastructure fund. Not sure there will be much left for shareholders. | ![]() lpavlou
09/11/2022 18:22 | Easily 100m, wasn't that long ago it was valued at 700m. The interested party will probably buy the whole airport for the price they were going to pay for part now. | ![]() gaffer73
09/11/2022 10:26 | Our board knew nothing about aviation when it bet the farm (our money) on its’ various vanity projects. They are so shockingly inept, if the bought a cemetery- people would stop dying. I cannot wait for us to return to core industries and have an undertaking from the Board there will be no more exotic adventures at our expense. | ![]() roddyb

03/11/2022 21:33 | Not long to wait now. If they don't announce any new airline deals next week, then they have lost the Easter trade and will be reliant on the summer to save the business. If RG is invested here, the odds are they have bagged some airlines. | ![]() lpavlou
22/10/2022 12:20 | RG must be confident that there are some airline deals In the offing given he has increased his stake. Thought there would be at least another RNS given the volume this week | ![]() lpavlou

04/10/2022 09:14 | We will find out Thursday what EasyJet's intentions are at Southend for next summer, possible outcomes. Worst case - Same routes as Summer 2022 less Faro. Likely case - Same routes as Summer 2022 plus Alicante. Best case - Based aircraft and more significant expansion of routes such as Alicante, Barcelona, Amsterdam to name a couple. I wouldn't rule out the best case, positive noises on social media. | ![]() stluke
28/9/2022 07:28 | Ipavlou - it looks that way - but the technical point - serving 1.4 million passengers a year across 54 destinations and it's never made a profit. Southend is a world away from 1.4m passengers in a location that pays much more.... | ![]() fenners66
27/9/2022 19:04 | Sheffield Doncaster airport is probably a property play. Worth far more as a logistics park than an airport, but they probably need to declare it unviable so as to convince the planning authority to shut it and turn it into logistics. | ![]() lpavlou
27/9/2022 09:03 | I gather wood pellet prices are rising strongly , should help here short term. | ![]() jotoha2
26/9/2022 23:19 | From the DM "Bosses at Doncaster Sheffield Airport have announced it must close at the end of next month after the business was declared 'unviable' - leaving about 800 jobs at risk. Peel Group, which owns the major UK airport, said high 'fixed costs' and recent world events had left the business with a 'fundamental lack of financial viability'. Managers at the regional terminal, serving 1.4 million passengers a year across 54 destinations, had been in talks with government officials about a rescue plan. But a spokesperson for the groups said these hadn't delivered 'any tangible results', and following a strategic review, the business was declared 'unviable'. Bosses will be 'winding down' their operations as the airport prepares to close at the end of October this year. " Now you could say that is some competition removed. Or you could say the airport was still not viable with 1.4m passengers in the low cost area of Doncaster - so what chance does Southend ever have of making a profit ? | ![]() fenners66
23/9/2022 08:15 | Little bit of activity this morning, should have some route news anytime now... | ![]() stluke
13/9/2022 09:44 | It may still be, 22m EBITDA so should be valued at 100m+. The big value is Southend if they can get flights next year. Remember when it was valued at 700m with the partnership! Seems like a lifetime ago. If they can't secure more flights next year they'll be forced to sell it or hand it over imo. | ![]() gaffer73 |
