Hopefully by posting this at the point of maximum pessimism, short of all out war or energy embargo, this morning will mark the bottom at low 400s and we can eventually recover from here

If we have an existential threat scenario here there is no bottom. Perhaps it is time to dump rather than bet on recovery here. I guess that's how a falling market can mess with your head. But the temptation to cut losses and run is high :(

This is why you buy Microsoft and Goog and hold, denominated in USD and veritable cash machines, this U.K. listed shxt consisting of brexit damaged credit junkie companies, most with declining business models or valuations built on capital return ( dividends ) and not growth, is capital destructive. There is no way any airline outside US and M.East can cope with oil prices at these levels ( they are terrible at hedging ). See 2008 airline shares prices to get an idea of value. You are looking at about 2.70 for these and .80p for Iag, both will need capital raises. Dump.

It definitely feels painful and prices certainly could go lower. Those who call the bottom will do very well. At some point in the future this price will look cheap, just a question of time.Really tough times and I feel sick every morning when I check the news. Hard hats and buy quality and reasonable value.

Bloomberg.....Price risesCommodities have again extended their rally, with wheat rising by the exchange limit to hit $12 a bushel. Oil is headed for its biggest weekly surge in almost two years. Hedge funds are betting on an extended rally in crude which at least one says could send prices to $200 a barrel. In Europe, natural gas prices remain extremely volatile as authorities prepare for severe economic consequences should Russia cut off supplies. Later today the United Nations publishes its latest World Food Price Index.

That's exactly it from a material point of view it's about higher fuel prices for half of their flights. Assuming that this isn't the end of Europe people will book and take their holidays. I suggest that all flights will be more expensive from all airlines and it will more than make up the difference.
Currently I don't hold and won't again until this stabalises. I was fortunate to sell into the journey to £7 as it fits my model well.
I expect to be back in around 420p in due course.

However in this market things could get ugly across the board. Is anyone cutting their losses here and wait for a re-entry or are you going to tough it out? I'm at my safety stop loss now and head says sell but of course you just know in 12 months time it will most likely have recovered. But probably better entry points to come for the brave

A big exaggeration i think, the last update said new bookings were surging and everybody wants to go on holidays this year regardless of Ukraine. And I don't think many planned holidays in Moscow or the Baltics. The fuel price may hurt them though

In real danger of going bust.

Many booking this year are using vouchers from cancelled flights last year ... so they've already had much of the cash.

taken a nibble here. Could be a tad early but surely if it drops it wouldn't be below these levels for long

Another capital raise in April coming I think, airlines cant catch a break and are terrible at hedging, parabolic energy costs plus the debt here is too huge now, they are paralysed with it. In fact the whole ftse is made up of credit junkie crxp companies with zero growth, its all debt, IAG has 11.5 b in debt and is basically a giant pension deficit with an airline attached, half the stuff, rubbbish like Vod and BT have a total value below the debt level, if you sold them off it wouldnt even cover the debt, the index is 500 points above where it was 21 years ago and backfiring Russian sanctions likely to put europe and U.K. back into another recession. I trade these in and out but there is a real risk now with a capital raise you could see these back at C19 ultra lows.Is that retard Tlobs still on this board, hes done well with his other stellar investment in ITV ( cratered today ) haha.
