28/11/2021 16:30 | From last night Switzerland mandated 10 days of quarantine for all new arrivals, in effect wrecking skiing holidays in the Swiss Alps until further notice. Looking like as from Monday Israel will be banning all foreigners from entering Israel for the next 14 days. | loganair
28/11/2021 14:12 | Too early to say about Moronic. But it's a great excuse for power-hungry politicians to show the plebs how "clever" (controlling) they are. | taurusthebear
28/11/2021 10:37 | STORM IN A TEACUP Doctor who discovered Omicron variant says UK 'panicking unnecessarily' and that symptoms 'extremely mild' The doctor who discovered the Omicron variant said the UK was “panicking unnecessarily” and that the symptoms are “extremely mild”. Dr Angelique Coetzee, chair of the South African Medical Association, told The Andrew Marr Show she first encountered the variant in a man in his early 30s who presented with tiredness and a mild headache, but none of the usual coronavirus symptoms. She said: “What we are seeing clinically in south Africa, and remember I’m at the epicentre - that’s where I’m practising - it’s extremely mild. For us, that’s mild cases.” When asked if the UK was “panicking unnecessarily” “Two weeks from now maybe we will say something different.” | topazfrenzy
27/11/2021 18:27 | Market related and worth a read - Is covid moving down the same path as the Spanish Flue becoming more transmissible but milder? The Spanish eventually evolved into one of many common cold viruses. | hades1

27/11/2021 10:09 | New Covid variant is less worrying than delta, says Prof Chris Whitty | bigbigdave
27/11/2021 09:18 | 10% of passengers testing positive for covid is absolutely horrifying. Firstly they are all supposed to have either been vaxxed or negative tested before boarding (could not have been checked or tested properly in South Africa) but more alarmingly this would point to a shockingly high presence of Covid in the population there. | dealy
27/11/2021 08:52 | Enough of this farce. | topazfrenzy
27/11/2021 08:48 | I still do not understand how you can be unvaccinated and board a flight, it should be mandatory except in very rare cases where they cannot get a vaccine. | topazfrenzy
27/11/2021 08:23 | Dan, maybe you're right, I will sell the bounce if it comes, however when things clear these airlines are going to bring in lots of cash at some point, they've restructured and are leaner machines and the competition has been blown out. I prefer IAG as I said before so will stick with that one for a while probably. I think this pandemic is not going to spread much further whatever rubbish the socialist propagandists and media try to sell you. Covid is now endemic and will just get weaker from here. Even in the first place it was hardly the killer they made it out to be, unless you are obese or very frail. | topazfrenzy
26/11/2021 22:49 | On the other hand, and ignoring EZJ, does anyone really believe the actions of control freak politicians are commensurate with events.... or just another Covid Cry Wolf Scariant to keep the masses in their place? The media play along, as ever, but no-one questions whether the concerns about "Omicron" are hyped out of all proportion, without extensive and convincing evidence of imminent disaster. Same old. | taurusthebear
26/11/2021 17:50 | Things are going from very bad, to absolutely catastrophic for EZJ. Topaz -- looks like you were looking a bit too far ahead. The short-term here looks dreadful. I'd avoid averaging down just yet if I were you. Monday is likely to be another plane-crash. My guess is we'll be at £3 before too long. A few things to consider - 1, the results for FY are a loss. That will be a sobering reminder. We will also see a more complete picture of the level of debt (inc creditors, cash on hand, pension deficit, lease obligations etc). I have a feeling that we will be looking at £2bn total debt at least. We will get confirmation soon. 2, the update on this year so far will doubtless reveal that the business is still losing money. EZJ has been keeping slots active, flying many planes well below capacity (even if a few have been full), paying higher costs and giving customers credit on previous unflown bookings. 3, the management will not be able to give a positive forecast because of all the new travel restrictions being thrown up by this new variant. If on top of that, the new variant is resistant to current vaccines, we are going to see another big fall, possibly throughout the week. Meanwhile European countries will be issuing new restrictions just to cope with their current virus problems. I've said this before but people keep thinking that EZJ is cheap; don't forget that EZJ's current enterprise value is not hugely lower than it was at its recent peak before covid came to our shores. In Jan 2020 when the shareprice was £15 (though HALF as many shares as today, due to TWO rights issues) the market cap was £5.2bn with only £300m in debt. This evening the market cap is about £3.8bn, and the enterprise value is £3.8bn plus at least £1bn in debt, less cash on hand (worth checking the accounts for cash on hand in Jan 2020 to get a precise comparison). In other words, the current enterprise value is not much less than it was before aviation turned into a bottomless pit of no-profits-and-massi EZJ is nowhere near the distressed level of shareprice that it should be, imv. Right now I think a shareprice of £2.50 would be more appropriate, given the business prospects for 2021/22 (no profits, reduced customers, high debt and increasing costs). | danvandan

26/11/2021 12:16 | Belgium records highest number of new cases since start of pandemic - Belgium Prime Minister has just said that the Belgium health care system is crumbling and is asking for restrictions to be bought in. | loganair
26/11/2021 09:55 | This new variant is now the dominant strain in parts of southern africa At first glance it does indeed seem to be much worse than the Delta strain Because this new variant has 50 mutations overall and 32 in its spike protein, This being the vehicle by which the virus penetrates the body's cells and the key target of the majority of vaccines. By comparison the Delta strain had several mutations in its spike protein Plus Delta receptor binding domain had two mutations This new mutation B.1.1.529's has ten RBI mutations. The WHO needs to get this classified as a VOC today as does the UK and USA authorities buywell believes this mutation could be significantly worse than Delta | buywell3 |
