Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine has 95% efficacy and is safe, further tests show

The coronavirus vaccine from Pfizer, which is due to arrive in the UK before the end of the year, has 95% efficacy and has passed its safety checks, according to further data from the firm.

The most common significant side effect seen in the study was fatigue, at a frequency of 3.8% after a second dose of the vaccine. No serious safety concerns were observed, the company said.

The companies' release said they plan to file for an emergency use authorization "within days" with the FDA.

The companies expect to be able to make up to 50 million vaccine doses, enough for 25 million people, by the end of 2020. Next year's production would be up to 1.3 billion doses, or enough for 650 million people.

With the AZN vaccine news imminent, I can see a further push north. One for short-term gamblers at the moment.

Snooty snipes - RYA market cap. likely bolstered by all those airfares that haven't been refunded.

How come this is performing well behind both Jet2 and Ryanair? RYA share price is back to pre-covid levels whilst Jet2 is at £13.40p which is only £6 off it's pre-covid high of £19. Here we are at £7..60p way down off our high of £18 back in June 18. Something tells me I've backed the wrong horse.

Price has held ok today considering the FTSE is down over 100 points. I reckon had they announced yesterday the price would have ended up between 800 and 830 then fallen back 20 points today...

Thanks crazi. Agreed: minimal market reaction to the loss seems to confirm people looking to better days ahead.

Their loss was within expectations. Strong cash balance and what they announced was a strong Summer 21 bookings... So all in all they look to have the worst behind them and have managed the circumstances well. Share price still down 50% from pre-covid. It will climb higher as the vaccines start to rollout and if there is any covid fast testing agreement.imho

All mediterranean governments/countries will do everything they can to underpin recovery in holidays from spring next year. Rapid-result testing by itself is a bit of a game changer; vaccines will push it along further. I'm looking for recoveries in holidays and transport. Major hotel groups are already there. EZJ and Jet2 look interesting. Coach companies maybe. Serious question: does today's loss announcement have implications for EZJs recovery over the next year?

The price has not stopped rising since Myrmatt's second rate amateurish de-ramp earlier this morning.

I do get the feeling that Myrmatt is trying a second rate de-ramp there.

Anybody who types "lost massive" in capitals before moving on to vaccines is clearly a brick short of a full load.

LOL

Met analysts expectations. So no nasty surprises. Was already built in to the price. Looking forward the news for Summer seems very positive. I wasnt expecting a massive rise on results but a bit surprised it's down 40 points as well.

I reckon it's a good tree shake. Investors will start buying when dust settles as they will be looking forward to post Covid injections and the Summer bookings...imho
