IMO FWIW a deal or no deal is now less significant for shorthaul. EU have said they will continue to allow flights for 6 months in event of no deal. This leaves 6 months to sort flying separate of all the level playing field gumpf. There is no way the Med countries are going to want the Brits trapped on their island come the summer; they will demand we are allowed to sit on their beaches, spending our money in their hotels and cafes. Greek, Spanish, French, Portuguese and Italian politicians will be chewed up if a second holiday season is damaged. Macron can wave goodbye to the presidency.

For the EU to cave, even at the last minute, would show others the way, so I doubt they will. Fish is just a numbers game, but the ratchet clause is contrary to all things Brexit. However, Boris has already caved re NI for the WA, so it may come from UK. For me, the odds are on No Deal. If there is one, it'll show that the last few months were just a massive game of Blink.

All that’s really happening is that the EU know they can’t be seen to be making it easy for the UK. If they did the Italians would be off next, then the Poles, then the Hungarians etc etc. So they need to show how ‘painful’; it is to try to leave the club. But of course in the end, with minutes to go, they’ll do a deal.

I do not think there will be a EU ban just restrictions Spain and France cannot afford it. It will be left to individual countries to decide People thought there would be a trade deal, better off dealing in certanties, they seem to want to punish boris

so the UK govt makes things more difficult for us, whilst the Canarian government is trying to make it easier for travellers to visit them hxxps://english.elpais.com/society/2020-12-10/spains-canary-islands-will-let-foreign-visitors-enter-with-an-antigen-test.html' target='window'>https://english.elpais.com/society/2020-12-10/spains-canary-islands-will-let-foreign-visitors-enter-with-an-antigen-test.html would the Canarian govt do that on the back of significantly increasing infection rates? and are those infection rates higher than in the UK where people are travelling from?

Ah very good of the EU negotiators (and speculative BBC reporters) to now throw the possibility of a flight bans to Europe if it's a no deal. Yeah right. That works both ways. Keep hold of our waters Boris and walk away from the corrupt EU shower of $hite.

"If" Johnson goes to EU to negotiate a deal will almost certainly be done and airline stocks will rebound strongly.

The Oxford University/AstraZeneca vaccine is safe and effective, independent analysis has confirmed. Researchers say the jab will have a "big impact" on the coronavirus pandemic. The study, published in the Lancet, is the first peer-reviewed analysis looking into phase 3 data from a vaccine trial. Scientists working on the vaccine stressed the importance of "transparency" and data sharing within the scientific community. They hope the vaccine will be approved for use in the UK "within the coming weeks".

Is it possible this will go up if there is a brexit trade deal or does deal or no deal make no difference as the deal is about trade not travel?

I know an easyjet pilot who is shorting with 30000 margin as of yesterday. They see it as insurance. I think they are very wise.
