Ryanair has problems for sure.
Image is a big issue, people just don't like them. Largely that's because of O'Leary who is universally hated by many.
I don't think easyjet has that.
Easyjet have diversified and Ryanair just added more extras.
It will be interesting but I see easyjet as the winners of this situation.

Added another load of easyJet at 423 this morning.
I do love a pure gamble now and then.

Ryanair Holdings plc today (22 July) reported Q1 profit of €360m, compared to a prior-year Q1 PAT of €663m, as strong traffic growth (+10%) to 55.5m customers, was offset by half of Easter falling into PYQ4 and weaker than expected air fares in the quarter.

Ryanair has reported a sharp fall in profit and warned it expects air fares to be "materially lower" than last year over the key summer months.Europe's largest airline by passenger numbers on Monday said profit after tax fell 46 per cent year-on-year to €360mn in the three months from April to June. The update will deepen investor concern over the durability of a two-year travel boom which had led to record profits for many major airlines, after several carriers on both sides of the Atlantic warned of pressure on fares in recent weeks.

With Q3 results on Wednesday, this will be an interesting watch over the next few days. Bgt in on Friday, looks a bargain with Q3 and Q4 (the most profitable quarters coming. Let's see how it does.

easyJet said its busiest day this summer will be Sunday 28 July, when it will carry nearly 300,000 passengers on nearly 2,000 flights across its European network.

The airline said this summer will be its busiest on record, operating over 80,000 flights during the school holidays.

Palma, Faro, Malaga, Nice and Barcelona are among its most popular destinations, but it said Greece and Turkey had seen an increase in popularity year on year.

I’ve no idea if EZJ flights have been affected/cancelled , if yes then obvious knock on effects for days, all at peak time as kids broke up from school now.

Shapphire doesn’t account for this and as already claimed profits for future flights that haven’t taken place yet.

Nice looking reverse head and shoulders pattern forming in the charts.

Of course, not confirmed until the share price crosses the neck line at around 500p, but interesting nonetheless!!

EZY appears to be one of the weakest in the market when it comes to dealing with network disruption, Manchester the other week being a good case. TUI didn't lose a single flight that day (not that I'd remotely suggest they're a better stock)

Not your winter sun beach holiday. Years since I have been but some stunning locations. I drove through on the way to jo'burg down the east coast maybe 20 years ago. Málaga to luxor would be handy for me.

Kibes yes it is a problem. It's a crazy shortsighted idea. Who do they expect to fill the void. Ultimately these companies employ the workers where the whole circulation starts.

Share buybacks are a clear indication that the company thinks that they are undervalued.
I hope that they decide it's appropriate. It can start small. Just £50m would take some slack off given the low volume

Saphire - Part of the problem is major pension funds don't buy shares any longer, instead they buy government bonds on a geared up basis (which could go spectacularly wrong very quickly wiping out their investment entirely). I have no idea why they are allowed to punt their pensioners money like this but while they do it means they aren't buying shares. So who is left? Hedge funds selling short and sharks selling short in concert so that they can make a takeover at a knockdown price? This is what the UK stock market consists of now. No wonder the market has gone essentially nowhere for 25 years. (FTSE in 2000 was 7000, now it is 8000).

Share buybacks are what companies do when they can't think of anything better to do with the money.
