Jet2 has definitely lost some holiday business to easyJet holidays. That situation will continue with more hoteliers dropping Jet2 at contract renewal in favour of easyJet. The way jet2 work isn't efficient for the hotel. easyJet don't block rooms at low prices and then leave some empty. Easyjet rooms are only blocked at the point of sale and at the price dictated by the hotelier. If that's too high the holiday won't sell. Natural selection and competition. Easyjet holidays are a useful tool to sell irregular capacity into with so many flights it's possible for the software to achieve near capacity. Previously 80%+ was good.
Jet2 has to evolve to compete with easyJet holidays.

Pricing seems an issue at Jet2 with bookings left closer to last minute so a lot of seats still to sell, they don't seem unduly worried but cautious about giving definitive guidance hence the muted respone for the sp, exctract below:-

Outlook

Summer 2024 on sale seat capacity is currently 12.3% higher than Summer 2023 at 17.16m seats. Booked to date Package Holiday customers are up by 7%, representing 72% of overall flown passengers, with Flight-Only passengers increasing by 16%. Consequently average load factor is currently 73.4% (2023: 75.2%).

Passengers are currently booking much closer to departure and therefore, pricing for our flight-only and package holiday products must remain attractive. Summer 2024 pricing to date for both products is showing a modest increase, helping to offset in part previously announced input cost increases. As ever, we remain mindful of the current macro-economic and geo-political environments and how these may influence future consumer spending patterns. However, we continue to believe that the end-to-end package holiday is a resilient and popular product which remains high on the priority list for our Customers, even during uncertain economic times.

Year to date the business is trading in line with management's expectations. Given the late booking profile and the peak summer months of July, August and September not yet complete, plus the majority of Winter 2024/2025 seat capacity still to sell, it remains premature, as is always the case at this time of year, to provide definitive guidance as to Group profitability for the financial year to 2025.

Yes but not relevant to easyJet as this is to March 24 so last summer. We already know how easyJet did in that period.
The easyJet Q3 performance will be along on 24th July. With Easter in Q2 £220m or more will look very positive however I suspect that they will be closer to £250m.
We need some comprehensive guidance on the summer performance as it makes or breaks the year.

I think you should all have eyes on Jet2 tomorrow morning. I believe GDP figures drop at the same time so there's a few things in play.

I think we can only consider ourselves out of the woods once we’ve breached 500 again. However strength does seem to be building. Certainly a breach of the 200dMA around 487 would be a very positive signal.

Yes the worthwhile people were telling us it will be £6 in April , quickly followed by £8 then the moon.

Funny that with all the so called on the ground analysis she got it all so very wrong.

Misleading people along the way with continual ramping and excuses.

She seems to think easyJet can do better than TUI in the holiday sphere, and better than Ryanair in the scheduled flights.

Last time easyJet reported they made a £350 million pound loss.

I don't own any. I work for a group with hotels across Southern Europe. Currently I am responsible for hotels in Malta and Costa del Sol. However end of this year I change to Portugal and Costa del Sol.
My role is strategic within the group. I sit in weekly meetings about capacity, demand and pricing. We use a tool which gathers data from airlines around prices and availability. My portfolio includes partner strategy and relationships with package vendors.

I have never seen Mijas Costa so busy. I shouldn't be surprised because we have been sold out for weeks but it's very real now. 35° standard temperature and wall to wall sunshine.
We have 72 units with easyJet holidays today and more than 70 a day until the first weekend in September. Our average stay is 8 days. Good business for us.

Topped up again around 466 this afternoon. It's too early to call for sure but I've taken the view that strength may appear to be building ahead of summer expectations.
