The shorters appear to be struggling to keep a lid on the price today, can't wait for New York to open where the investors are not so easily duped by the chuckle brothers & co.

For anyone that missed it make sure you read the latest article from the Oak Bloke from yesterday evening..

This is a great point and overlooked :

‘Its stewardship of the assets from an “E” (environmental) perspective is materially better than the previous owner. However, its business model does mean aggregate carbon and carbon-equivalent emissions are material.’

Here we go, short selling hedge funds have their heavy clamp on the share price.
A pathetic rise really.
Nowhere near the US price either.
Why aren't stakeholders contacting the regulators and LSE?

Throughout all of this debacle it's become clear that the shorters - looking at the complex (yet highly successful) operating methodology of DEC, realise they can spook less experienced investors that basically don't get how DEC works, into panic selling.
They're effectively leveraging fear and ignorance rather than actual facts of the case.

To me the only really concerning event IN REALITY was/is William's resignation from the VP/CFO position.

But isn't that also easy to see through? IMO Williams resigned because he was passed over for the president promotion in favour of Hunt, who has seamlessly taken on Williams's job as well. Same day resignations always smell of hissy fits/ bruised egos.

If I had an extra £10k I'd bang it into DEC shares today - 'If you can keep your head while all around are losing theirs' sort of thing, 'cos opportunities like this don't present very often at all.

Re: post #234 " I have no knowledge of how methane is measured but have to assume Snowcap are using accepted methods in their attack,”

Do you really think they’ve put as much time, money, knowledge and effort as Diversified have into understanding methane measurement techniques?

DEC’s answer to the previous attack included this description;

“IV. Methane Emissions Detection and Measurement Effective leak detection and reduction have been a major area of focus for our SAM program. As such, we continue to invest significantly in industry-leading detection and measurement capabilities of fugitive emissions and prioritize their repair and elimination. We focus our leak detection activities, including the use of LDAR equipment and Light Detection and Ranging (“LiDAR”) technologies across our entire asset portfolio, inclusive of compression facilities and well sites.

We have attained industry firsts in emission detection and quantification technology through the deployment of Sensors, Inc.’s SEMTECH® HI-FLOW 2 measurement device and Opgal’s EyeCSite® Quantitative Optical Gas Imaging solution. We continue to collaborate with other technology providers to evaluate and test emerging technologies. In 2023, we conducted extensive field trials with Xplorobot’s Laser Optical Gas Imaging and quantification technology. This technology will meet the requirements of EPA’s newly finalized Quad Ob regulations and provide a digital twin of equipment and emissions, along with quantification. We also conducted field trials with Heath Consultants’ Remote Methane Leak Detection RMLD-OGI technology.”

From yesterday but had it emailed this morning.

Environmental issues at Diversified Energy are overcooked, says JOHCM duo
Diversified Energy (DEC) has underperformed as its environmental record hit the spotlight, but JOHCM managers James Lowen and Clive Beagles say the concerns are ‘misplacedR17;.

They hold the gas and oil production group in their £1.5bn JOHCM UK Equity Income fund and in their latest update said the oil sector had been ‘weak in general terms’ at the end of the year.

‘Diversified Energy, in particular, underperformed as third parties – a US House committee – further focused on its environmental record,’ said the duo.

Four Democratic politicians have called for the company, which is the largest purchaser and owner of oil and gas wells in the US, to outline how it is stopping methane leaks from its tens of thousands of gas wells.

‘We believe these issues are misplaced, as the company has made great strides over recent years,’ said Lowen and Beagles.

‘Its stewardship of the assets from an “E” (environmental) perspective is materially better than the previous owner. However, its business model does mean aggregate carbon and carbon-equivalent emissions are material.’

Halving the dividend would give i.r.o. 14% at 1000p so still very respectable at current price under 900p. What are they attacking here? The dividend sustainability, the environmental concerns, the business model or all three. Meanwhile gas is flared, old wells leak etc.

I meant to add that the business has an impressive record of maintaining the divi, beyond just high gas prices but now has to content with high debt costs.

I presume the update result next week would be good as DEC Msnagement repeats several times that no change to its financial or operation that caused this recent share price dropped. However if the result next week was the opposite, CEO and the DEC Board had committed a criminal offence by giving false information and can be sued by Big Shareholders

No, that'd be the tail wagging the dog.

I'm not so sure. 600k+ traded in the US yesterday - comfortably a new high. We're 1/3rd of the way through today in the UK and volume is 220k. If US volume keeps growing like this, it will soon overtake the UK.

Hi if this is the ARO assumptions, I don't see how we are going to know soon whether it is DEC or the shorters who are right? Only actual experience over a number of years is going to determine this? (It's possible DEC have made a computational mistake in arriving at the ARO but you hope these are checked!)

They are just using different assumptions really - that's the debate - are DEC being too aggressive or not. Pays your money....

Diversified Energy recovered some ground, having tumbled on Tuesday after activist investor Snowcap Research said the company may not have enough funds to cover the costs of plugging its inactive wells and that a dividend cut was imminent.
