06/4/2022 07:35 | that looks good, not just in content but I sense a positive vibe in the RNS too. Happy here. | berny3

04/4/2022 23:31 | Peter,There we were, thinking RG taking a big percentage would get the share price up, and all it's done is the opposite. With DG too in love with the brands to actually sell any, it seems a bidding war is the best hope for investors right now to save having to wait another 10 years. | haggismchaggis
04/4/2022 19:19 | Boy, oh boy, Haggis, I could really enjoy that bidding war! Been adding since 2013 and been underwater so many times I'm lucky I haven't drowned. pete | petersinthemarket
03/4/2022 12:20 | Peter, Re post 10111, thanks for the numbers :) So DIS is ridiculously undervalued, as suspected!! "Diageo has announced that it has sold it's Windsor blended whisky business to a private South Korean equity group for £124m." versus DIS MCap of just GBP8.55m. DIS is so far under the radar, it's like a stealth bomber that's hidden in a secret underground bunker. How does DIS get itself rerated, without some big company putting in a low ball offer to acquire DIS and then a bidding war kicking off?? | haggismchaggis
31/3/2022 10:36 | Previous Spring Trading Updates have been 14 April 2021 and 9 April 2020. So we should have some useful news within the next fortnight. | petersinthemarket
31/3/2022 10:16 | It really is a decent rum. Over the last couple of years I have been converted from other spirits to rum, which I never tried in my life before. RedLeg sales have excellent traction now, but our other brands need more effort to catch up. Locally, the main opposition is Captain Morgan. Diageo have reduced the price to a more or less consistant £16 against RedLeg £20/£22. DIS are trying to position RedLeg as a premium brand for which people are willing to pay more. It's a bit patchy though. RedLeg is on offer this week at £17 for cardholders. Captain Morgan is ok to drink but it's sales pitch is a bit dodgy imo. It looks and reads like a rum, but it's actually well under legal strength at 30% compared to the legal minimum (and RedLeg) at 37.5%. As a well-under-proof substitute for rum it should and does cost less, but I suspect not everyone knows the law regarding strength, or legal labelling. I would not sell RedLeg at any price atm as it would leave too big a hole in our range. | petersinthemarket
30/3/2022 17:38 | LR2 - I have been buying this month but not this week. | petersinthemarket
29/3/2022 14:30 | Someone gota good price for that 1.5 mil trade this morning. Was it you Pete? | lr2
29/3/2022 14:13 | I see the mm's are trying hard to move the ask up to 1.5p, but in practice the buys are still going through at 1.3/1.37p | petersinthemarket
27/3/2022 20:03 | Peter, £124m for a 700,000 case business, what does that imply DIS is worth? | haggismchaggis
26/3/2022 12:25 | Diageo has announced that it has sold it's Windsor blended whisky business to a private South Korean equity group for £124m. The deal will be completed in fiscal 2023 and Diageo will provide the whisky content for the next 10yrs. Windsor is a 40% premium brand aimed at affluent whisky drinkers in Asia, where its biggest market is Korea. There is a marketing hint that there is some link with Lochnagar, but as this is about the tiniest of Diageo's distilleries, it's hard to imagine there is much of the Scottish brew in it. In 2014 the brand just squeaked into the world’s top 25 Scotch whisky blends by volume with sales of 700,000 cases but I can't find any more recent data. | petersinthemarket

16/3/2022 10:41 | Apologies for off thread. Anyone with an investment interest in Diageo needs to know that there is a possible scammer around. He is an English National and 100% shareholder by the name of Adem Bessim, 36, operating out of 1 Brewery Offices in Kent. The company was filed at Companys House in October last year as Diageopartners Ltd (which is legal) and is allegedly passing itself off as the real Diageo (which is not) and scamming potential investors out of their cash (which is not). Diageo lawyers have issued a cease and desist order and CosHse are looking at how registratin was allowed. This allegedly criminal organisation is expected to remain active for several more months before hopefully being closed down. I think the Mirror might have first released the story. | petersinthemarket
14/3/2022 11:06 | News on the building project at Ardgowan: The team grows as Ardgowan welcomes Stephen Caughey. Team Ardgowan continues to grow as we welcome our new Construction Manager, Stephen. Stephen has a fantastic challenge ahead as we not only gear up to build our amazing new whisky distillery and visitor centre but also kick-off plans for a new bespoke centre for gin distilling. Stephen brings a 34-year track record in the construction industry, having started his career in 1988 as an apprentice carpenter. Since then he has built up a wealth of experience in locations as diverse as Jersey, Australia and New Zealand prior to returning home to Scotland in 2010. He places health and safety front and centre as well as important workplace values like fairness, inclusion, and respect for all. Great to have you on board, Stephen! | petersinthemarket
10/3/2022 14:12 | What is interesting is Halewood had a distillery in St Petersbourg that they were using to produce cheap alcohol. two things from that - Might explain all these extreme flavours in their products (Halewood) covering up for the cheap alcohol. More importantly as I remember from my past research (some years back) was the margins were really tight at the firm (Halewood, single figures) the closing of this and moving production to UK will incur significant cost and lead to price raises. Combined with as you say which other producers were using Russian sourced alcohol could see gaps opening up in the market which one would hope DG and his team can move in and fill. | berny3
10/3/2022 13:50 | Berny3, I wonder how many other products use Russian spirit (Gin or liqueurs). | haggismchaggis
09/3/2022 11:54 | This was interesting I wonder wonder whether Deadman's fingers is also produced out of their distillery in Russia. | berny3 |
