All looking good to me. Very difficult to look at figures that are skewed by covid and covid restrictions, but the business is still building up, which is the main thing, plus our own malt whisky launched soon.

Happy to be corrected but my very basic take on that update is no one is buying when its not discounted.

Sales down nearly 30% year on year, not exactly the fast growing business ‘building brands and selling them on’ the management promised before now?
I wonder how this new investment into whiskey will make money for the shareholders?

Historically,
TU = Tues12jan2021, Mon20jan2020, Mon21jan2019

monday = 17jan2022

DG writes the TU himself.
I suspect he likes a weekend to mull it over.
His TU's have usually been on a Mon/Tues.

Either way, I look fwd to news.

We may be seeing Buy the Rumour, sell the News this morning. At least, the Buy side seems to have gone that way. There is more trading going on in this stock than normal. The increased liquidity has seen a tightening in the real spread. Although LSE is still quoting 1.60/1.90, trading is going on closer to 1.75/1.85. Some punters are plainly speculating, probably without any insight, despite my feeling that the company updates are a bit leaky. For traders, having bought a few, the question is what will they do next. The obvious, and usual, answer is to sell the morning the news appears, but this might depend on results. The probability, I suppose, is for history to repeat itself, with a sell off as traders take their profits on satisfactory results. If we get really outstanding news, they might stay in for a while, to see what happens, but if the news is only good to moderate, they will probably quit quickly. Some of us may be more interested in the medium to long term, but I guess future guidance is still unlikely due to covid issues and this will limit what Distil, or Progressive Equity Research updates can say. I will continue to stick for now. This is still (unjustifiably) seen only as a small company, but with cash in the bank, no debt, improving profitability, increasing product range, increasing exports and plans for a new Scottish plant, it has to be recognized for what it really is at sometime – a safe and solid player with good future prospects.

When trading shares always important to recognise one's weaknesses! I knew I should sell these when they spiked to nearly 4p a few years ago but didn't. Never fall in love with a share. Suddenly 10 years gone by...ah well

Historically, TU's have varied quite a bit,
so I suppose it could be on the cards.

monday = 10jan2022

TU = 12jan2021, 20jan2020, 21jan2019

Holding these indefinitely doesn't strike me as a particularly sensible investment strategy. I've been in and out of these many times over the years. Be interesting to see what Monday brings.

buoycat, I've no need to do anything with my researching technique, I am perfectly happy with finding undervalued stocks, buying dirt cheap and waiting for the big money whenever it arrives, just like Warren Buffett.

You may have to refine your research technique as this share has been a bit of a slow burn, perhaps dog being too strong a word! I bought when they were blavod for around 1p. It's been fun to hold though I guess, and still hoping.

buoycat, I don't need an entry point now though, I already bought my stock about ten years ago and have it in certificate form where it can't be lent out to shorters. Paid 0.8p per share for the lot.

I'm sure after your research you may wait for the right entry point. Who wants to pay for an overvalued share however good the fundamentals if you don't have to? And often adding to a holding will be directly influenced by price action. Either averaging down or adding into momentum cushioned by already being in profit.

Of course the MMs move the price. That's their job, to find the point where buyers and sellers are willing to meet. That point is often dictated by sentiment.

12.32 million valuation for a profitable company with no debt and several spirit brands. Spirit brands sell for tens of millions each. RG saw it at higher prices, why can't the market see it!

buoycat,

Never actually. I have only ever bought based on my research.

The only way the price can dictate the trades is if the MM's move the price themselves. I see no reason for them to do that unless there is something driving them to do it that we are not aware of, such as someone placing a big order with a higher max price, or a Director buying and the RNS is delayed until after the close, or there is a rumour like maybe the sale of a brand, etc.
